Transfer rumour on X regarding him.
Motherwell, Leyton Orient and Burton Albion are among a number of clubs eyeing moves for Dunfermline defender Kieran Ngwenya on a free transfer
Ngwenya, 23, is out of contract this summer at Dunfermline and he has impressed for the Pars this season. #motherwellfc #lofc #bafc

Honestly, if you’d told me after that absolute horror show against Queen of the South that Kieran Ngwenya would be one of the most reliable performers a few months later, I’d have laughed at you. He looked completely shot for confidence. One of those nights where everything that can go wrong, did for him.
The turnaround has been ridiculous.
Since then he’s looked like a completely different player. Composed on the ball, actually driving forward with purpose, and defensively he’s tightened up massively. Now he’s reading the game better instead of constantly reacting half a second too late.
What’s impressed me most is the mentality. Plenty of young players could have folded after a performance line that. He’s gone the other way.
He probably owes a lot to Lenny after that as I am sure I wasn`t the only one baffled by his inclusion the next game. He has stuck by him and it`s paid off.
I don`t thing he is the finished article by any stretch, but the trajectory is night and day compared to that QOTS game.
I`d assume we have offered him a new deal but whether he stays or goes he will have my best wishes.
This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it.

He has turned his season around for sure. Its not surprising clubs are looking at him. I hope that he stays personally. He has really improved but has good pace and is a good athlete. By adding goals to his game beings tgat added dimension. Good luck to him in whatever he decides to do.

It really is quite the turn around from Kieran, not being able to even get in the squad up until December time to being one of the most solid players, arguably better than Mullen recently too.
So it’s understandable that folk are sniffing around him. Lenny did say weeks ago that they wouldn’t be opening negotiations with anybody until the semi final was out the road. But I’m sure the players will understand that and the ones likely to get a contract offer will expect to do so in due course. Kieran, Matty, Kano, Hammy and Mullen being the players in mind.

The Leyton Orient link is interesting? I believe that Kieran keeps in touch with Tobi (our former Celtic goalkeeper loanee), who now plays for Leyton Orient.

It is some turnaround that a player who was on everyone’s ‘release list’ could end up in the Premier League before we do!
You could say he’s developed into what we’d hoped Otoo would be in that position.

At the Airdrie in October Kieran was sat in with us. He looked miserable. Fast forward to tomorrow night and he would normally be one of the first picks.
All down to him. Really can`t grudge the lad a move. Good luck to him but I`d like to see him stay!

Now linked with Blackpool who have reportedly watched him several times this season.
Hopefully just his agent using the media to bump up his contract a wee bit!

You reap what you sow at the end of the day. Talent also needs hard work to create success. Its inevitable that Kieran will attract attention along with other players at the club. There is more to come from Kieran and the players so if they decide to stay, they can take the club to new levels and benefit from the managements investment of time and effort in them, plus that invaluable experience they bring.

Yeah it’s an awkward one because 8 months ago everyone would be happy to have seen his contract free up space for someone else but now he’s one of the most important players so would be harsh to be annoyed at him leaving

That`s the trouble with short-term contracts. You are taking a gamble on a good player being willing to take his own gamble by resigning with you for a longer term.

It`s been an interesting season for him, last year he wasn`t even getting into the match day squad. There couldn`t have been too many Pars fans in mid December who were hoping we would sign him up on a longer term deal. Since 20th December he has come in and been excellent. Hopefully he will sign on for a bit longer

Will the pars maybe have enough money with the cup run etc. to offer Ngwenya and Mullen and a few others a very good deal to sign for another season or two.

To be honest, if any English clubs are in for either, we can`t and shouldn`t compete.
The average league one salary is now over 200K and increasing.
I can see both easily playing at a good team at that level, one that might get promoted.
Unfortunately, they will probably go for nothing, let`s enjoy them while they are here- it`s a hell of a finale!

I have to admit I was dubious about the new owners at first, but I`m more positive now. I`m less negative about the previous owners than some. I think their hearts were in the right place, but they simply didn`t have enough money to do the job that needed doing.
That`s no longer the case. The new owners seem to have the money to be able to invest up front in order to get a better return later. They don`t need to wait for the cup final money to land before they tie up a player on a longer term deal to enhance their value.
I`m not saying that they`re going to be able to persuade JCM or Kieran to stay. They might not think it`s worth the investment. It does seem like they have the money to make those calls irrespective of the current season cashflow, which is great. Both the club and the owners can benefit if they can bring in larger sums from future sales.
According to Transfermarkt Jackie McNamara is still our record transfer. It feels like we have a few players on the books now who could break that record, if the owners decide to stick, rather than twist.

The Germans had plenty of money. They just didn`t want to spend it on us.
I`m not that negative on them either. I`ve also had expensive hobbies I`ve got bored with.

To be fair, lockdown happened just as the Germans were getting started.
The lack of revenue from fans would have had a big impact.

Their backer was a shipping billionaire but, as shown with PIF pulling out of LIV golf, nobody likes to lose money, irrespective of how much they have.

As much as it`s frustrating to see players leave on free contracts, it also shows other young players what can happen if they come here. Gives them a platform for bigger things.

All credit to him. It must be soul-destroyoing to train all week and not make the squad for the weekend, far less the team. Hopefully it sets an example to others who might fall temporarily out of favour.

I think that the outcome of the policy is the positive development of the younger players both off field and the opportunity they get to play regular first team football. One needs the other so its a more hollistic approach than is possible at the bigger clubs. Its inevitable that players will move on to bigger and better clubs if the opportinity arises, but no doubt there will be opportunities at Dunfermline if we can achieve promotion either this year of next. Its also a demonstration to younger players who may not be getting regular game time at bigger clubs to see us as a springboard to better things. In many ways the club and management have led by example in this approach that hopefully they will reap a reward from and develop a system and approach that can sustain us in the top flight.

Yeah the more younger players that we move on to bigger things the more likely players will be willing to come to us because they’ll see players playing for bigger clubs and go that could be me if I move there
The only thing I would add is that if these players aren’t signing a new contract we know going either into the play off final if we are in it or the Scottish cup final so we can give them a farewell

It`s been some turn around for Kieran, he deserves it for how professional he`s been. All of a sudden he`s in a position where he could really kick on with his career. I hope he decides to work under NL a bit longer yet but you only get one career

Wouldn’t blame him if he leaves and goes down south - will get a 2/3 year deal on much better money and even if his time down there is unsuccessful, he’ll be back up the road at the level he’s at now.
Hope he stays though because he’s been great since he came back in.
