I`m not trying to second guess the team selection for Saturday or work out whether NL is playing mind games about who`s fit.
I was just really impressed by the performance of a lot of the younger players last night and it got me wondering which players we have that might be suited to a bigger pitch.
Transfermarkt says that the pitch at Hampden is 105m x 70m and that the pitch at EEP is 105m x 64m. The difference might not seem like much, but that`s 630 sqm of extra space for our players to work with.
We have defenders like John Tod, Kieran, JCM (if fit) and Abdulai (if not in midfield) that are very comfortable to take the ball forwards into space. We have fast players in wide positions like Fraser and Kearney and Bray who should come into their own when it`s harder for Falkirk to close them down.
Up front Andrew Tod is great at getting into unmarked spaces, Morrison loves to get the ball down and run at people and Lucas Fyfe looks like he`s comfortable on the move.
Which of our players will make the most of the bigger pitch and does it factor into NL`s game plan?

Yes agree. Our style of play and the players we have will suit the bigger pitch.

Worry about Kearney defensively up against Calvin Miller. I’d rather see Todd at right wing back.
Oxborough
Todd
Abdulai
Tod
Ngwenya
Fraser
Gilmour
Amade
Hamilton
Kane
Morrison
That’s how I’d go. Hamilton to add a bit of cover when Todd and Fraser push on. Then get Fyfe on with 25 to go to score the winner.

Hopefully F*lkirk underestimate us and feel cocky, luring them into leaving us space to create chances that allow our "injured" players bang into the net.
I doubt it though because as much as I don`t want to say it, F*lkirk have had an exceptional 3 seasons which has led to 2 straight titles, a top 6 SPL finish and a major cup semi final. They`ll be well organised and professional. So will we though, and we have enough quality to create chances, we just need to make sure the players capitalise on those chances. Our whole team obviously has to perform as well as they can and defend against a much better side than both Hibs and Aberdeen farm were.
If Morrison and Tod play, they`ll have to track back more than usual. The fact that it`s F*lkirk makes the match even more important. Their team and fans will be laughing their heads off if they win, and it will be even more disappointing losing to them than any other team.
Does anybody know how much tickets each team have sold? I`d guess it would be pretty even, maybe 8-9 thousand each? Hopefully another 5-10 thousand neutrals (unlikely I know) to fill the stadium up a bit. Neither team wants 2 empty stands. The SFA should comp thousands of tickets to schools for free as they don`t want a half empty stadium. They`d make extra money from the free tickets as the kids would spend at least a few quid at the food kiosks. Common sense and the SFA don`t go hand in hand though.

Are we assuming that Tod and JCM are injured then? The rumours of Tod being ok are bs then ? I really hope one or both of them make it…..

Injuries permitting then that would be my team with exception of Cooper in ahead of Hamilton.
Partick aside - played out of position in fairness - he`s been good the last few games and really seized his opportunity.
Also agree on Todd over Kearney defensively. If Mullen is fit he`ll start over John Tod.

I would argue the case for J Tod over JCM but with it being a high profile televised match I imagine JCM will play at the top of his game to put him front and center of the shop window.

I`ve said it before but it`s a hill I`ll die on. If we manage to shift JCM to some other unsuspecting squad for even the price of a fish supper we`ve done well.
Christ knows what the international selection committee see in him. He is sluggish, half a pace of every ball, quick to berate and blame others for his mistakes, and is the most uninspiring captain I`ve ever seen.
I know he still has a large fan base, I was one of his greatest supporters until recently, but when he got the armband for the first time, he took his foot off the pedal. He looks disinterested, and offers no motivation to the squad.
If he scores the winner on Saturday, I`ll happily eat humble pie of course!

I dare say it`s controversial, and most won`t agree, but I think we`ve got stronger sitting on the bench, and others more suited for captaincy. I certainly don`t want to criticise a player before the biggest game in years, but I want our strongest team on the pitch, and I honestly don`t see him in it. My opinion, many will argue tho.

Has a grangemouth fan infiltrated pur forum and tried to rock one of our most important player? That post about JCM is ridiculous. JCM, abdulai, ngwenya, j tod have all been superb this season, and all hugely improved, as have most of the squad. It`s an exciting and positive time to be a pars fan and the last thing we need is "fans" talking down our players.

Haven`t you? On any of the posts last night or today? Maybe you need to get an eye test. Or just stop being a goady wee cvnt.
Either way, my comment was based on a season long assessment, which iibh I stand by. Yesterday he was good. He played well. Not MoM material, and certainly still not captain material imo. When Hamilton came on and took the armband, he looked like a leader. JCM doesn`t have that edge imo.
As an aside, will you be spending the day trawling though every thread and every comment and calling out every poster who has had the damned audacity to criticise any of the team at any point this season, or are you just being a pr!ck to me personally on the day we should all just be happy and content with the result, performance and atmosphere from yesterday?
