Absolutely brilliant effort from the fans, considering the website was down for part of the day. Doubt many clubs in Scotland would sell 7500 in a day, other than the big 5.

South Stand still several hundred to go.

What are the chances of Section B5 being opened up? Holding off purchasing tickets on the chance this might happen. Maybe others in the same boat?

Id imagine the club will request the cheaper section to be opened up now to increase sales. More folk be more inclined at £32 rather than £42.

From what’s left ignoring the scattered handful elsewhere in our original allocation P4 will be the best even if most west stand sections are made available.

If more west stand sections are released then it’s not so much the section you are in and more that you are far enough back.

North/South have closest views to pitch, behind corner flags alright views, behind goals is a fine view if your eyes still work and sit further back 😂 main thing is getting further back Id say as down the front can be harder to see due to running track

Falkirk have sold 7k but just open to season ticket holders although they can buy as many tickets as they want.

I suspect both sides will sell out the initial allocation and will be more Pars fans at the game once extra allocations have been allocated.

I don`t like Hampden, however Tynecastle/Easter Road would restrict the numbers. At least this way, everyone who wants to go can go. Its a pity it`s not two tiered though as could close the top and create a better atmosphere.

This argument comes up every year if one of the SFs doesn`t involve an OF club but I don`t see anything changing while the SFA has a financial interest in Hampden.

There`s also the point that the team that won the SF that wasn`t played at Hampden might be at a disadvantage in the Final if most of their players hadn`t played there before. Knowing a SF will definitely be played at Hampden could also act as an incentive for players of non-OF clubs as they probably won`t get many opportunities to play there in their careers.

Neither SF should be played at Hampden, regardless if either of the OF are involved or not.
Pick a neutral venue (ideally Tynecastle or Easter Rd) of a team not involved, and play both semis there.
If they insist that Hampden is the national stadium, then fine, play the final there. But let`s be honest, Hampden has the worst transport links, worst parking, worst pre-match pub choices, and worst atmosphere of almost any Scottish stadium I can think of.
As a fan trying to make the trip, it`s a god-awful nightmare of a place to drive to, get public transport to, or go for a couple of jars nearby.
I`d take Murrayfield over Hampden any day tbh

I`d much prefer to see the semi final at a smaller, more intimate venue that was sold out, than a 52000 seater stadium with 30000 empty seats.
If tickets were limited, then between season ticket holders and those who have bought tickets through the club throughout the season, it wouldn`t be difficult to ensure all the regular fans were guaranteed a ticket. As it stands, a sizeable chunk of our allocation will go to folk who likely haven`t been to EEP on a regular basis in some time. That`s fine, more money for the club I guess, but I`d still vote for Tynecastle, easier access, better stadium, better atmosphere and better pubs, and if the fair weather fans have to watch it on the TV then so be it.
It`s all purely hypothetical, it`ll never happen, but when I win the euromillions and I buy the SFA, that`s what I`m changing it to!

I think the real problem is because the SFA now owns Hampden they have to try and use it as much as possible.

When Queens Park owned it, playing semis at Hampden wasn`t such an issue.

It`s not a great stadium, and to be honest, I would have preferred if they had an agreement with SRU, and redeveloped either Murrayfield ( again not a great stadium) or Hampden, and used it as a national stadium for both sports

As for building a 30k stadium in Stirling? Lunacy, it would make the Olympic Stadium look like value for money-there really aren`t many acts that can fill a stadium, and those few that can want to play in a good sized city- somewhere where actual people live.

A 60,000 stadium with 2 tiers would be ideal, also with designated transport links a more central accessible area, sell Hampden to create money for it, it can be used for housing

The stadium can then be opened to accommodate the expected crowd, ie top tier closed.

I doubt this will ever happen due to the Glasgow bias in the SFA.

Par, well said on why Hampden is what it is. A better solution can be found and the upper tier stadium you suggest would definitely give the atmosphere required for games like our semi-final which will be half full attendance at its best. Unfortunately the SFA are in this for themselves and not the fans. They are only interested in Celtic and Rangers doing well and the freebie days the SFA get for all Hampden games.

With only 18 days to go, there`s still no news from the club regarding the buses they`ve apparently secured, who will get first dibs, or when they will become available. Even if there`s been a bit of a hitch, some news from the club would be better than nothing.
I`m a bit disappointed tbh, I really hoped to know one way or another by now

How do these wonders of the world get maintained when there are no shortage or former World Cup stadiums rotting into the ground while our grassroots football withers on the vine? What exactly are your priorities - developing a white elephant for a bi decade day out?

Worth noting some countries don’t even have a national stadium.

USA
Brazil
Switzerland
Italy
Spain

Taking games across the country is something I’ve always been in favour of in terms of international games.

The same can be argued for domestic finals and semi finals to maximise atmosphere and exposure.

Tynecastle would have been perfect for our semi final.

Spot on and whilst I hate the idea of the ugly sisters financially benefiting it makes more sense to have more funds going into grassroots football.

I guess it’s easier for the like of Italy as many clubs don’t own their stadia.

Regarding our semi final I think Tynecastle may prove too small. I’d expect more would go to Tyncastle than traipse through to Glasgow.

Tynecastle holds 19800 which for our game is adequate.
Chances are, the game at Hampden won’t be much more than that.

And who determines what a “loyal fan” is? Theres some travelling from the other side of the world for this game - are they less loyal because they aren’t part of the 5k every other week? Or are the regular attenders without STs not loyal because they don’t pay up front in June?

Every stadium outside of the “big 4” in Scotland wouldn’t accommodate the number of fans wanting to attend, so hosting elsewhere would be daft.

Tynecastle holds 19800 which for our game is adequate.
Chances are, the game at Hampden won’t be much more than that.
For a final that is different obviously.

By adequate, do you mean not enough?

We’ll let say it was Tynecastle. All the loyal fans who go in week in week out would be there.
You’re talking about a few hundred who might not make it.

Wow.

You can say wow all you like. Our average home fan attendance is about 5000

You don’t know that yet. Last semi was 17500 fans.
So far there are 16500 going.

Regardless of who is or isn`t a regular, a season ticket holder or otherwise deserving or not, the prospect of watching one of our biggest games in 20 years in a stadium that`s over half empty is p!sh.
That goes for any fan of any club.
The powers that be can dress it up as heritage, nostalgia or the home of Scottish football as much as they like, playing a semi final between two teams with a following the size of ours in a stadium that will be at 40% capacity is a poor decision.

Yes,I think the authorities need to think this out. Depending on who gets through to semi finals, alternative venues should be considered. Is that too sensible? 😅 But I suppose the hospitality and sponsorship has to be considered.

If there are more people at the game than Tynecastle or Easter Road can hold, then surely it is at the right venue. Pretty pointless locking people out just for the sake of it.

Yes, but the real reason is SFA own Hampden now, not Queens Park, for whatever reason they have to use it as much as possible - 10 games a season? It`s not much, personally I think it`s a white elephant, it`s not a great stadium.

Personally they should have sold it and used the money to twin with SRU and redeveloped Murrayfield, which is also a bit of a tip. Won`t happen, but it`s a white elephant.

I prefer it at Hampden purely because it gives everyone a chance to watch if they want.

Correct. "Fairweather" fans could be the fans of the future. Especially when Chris Kane knocks his third in and everyone goes home having had a transcendant experience.

Agree with all of what you say Neils, however the reason the SFA (say) they have to use it, is to generate enough money to pay off the running cost of it, along with the debt for renovating it all those years ago.

When Stewart Regan announced the SFA’s purchase of Hampden, he spoke about it then, I think the loan (especially for the South Stand), isn’t cleared until 2035 from memory.

No way was that a full house. The biggest crowd I’ve been to at tynecastle was when we played Portugal in semi final of world youth cup. 29,000. THAT was a full house. Bouncing.

St Johnstone 14268 and replay 9845 in 1968
I would add transport would have been a nightmare for a replay for both teams in 1968 getting home.

An amazing 41400 crowd vs Hibs in 1965

I remember that Airdrie game well, plenty gaps in the terracing, not sure how you could have thought it was anywhere near a full house. The final was a pretty low crowd too mind you

I`m not sure why people are thinking that semis should be played anywhere other than Hampden considering the SFA stupidly bought it.Its empty and unused enough as it is.

One guy said we should build a stadium in Stirling...why?? Where does the £400M + cost come from?

"I still think there should be a stadium in maybe Stirling that holds 35000 to bridge the gap"

That would be a white elephant.

Apart from other considerations, the local area does not have the transport infrastructure to accommodate a large stadium.

A few days later Hibs beat us 1-0 at Easter Road in the league - a result that ultimately went a long way to preventing the Pars becoming champions.

It may have been the re-scheduled league game from the Saturday cup semi ?

If you go on to the Dunfermline tickets app, go to the top right hand side and click on the three little lines for a menu. Then click on orders. This will show you where your ticket order is. But don’t click on view as it won’t allow you to do that (because it’s not DAFC that are selling them to you). Your order will transfer to the Hampden app on the day of the match and then you’ll be able to view / use them.

I know this isn’t important at all but would like to add that I’ve noticed all the sections have been moved across one on the map so for example where C1 is on the map is where you’ll be sitting if you bought C2 tickets and if you bought C3 you’ll be sitting where C2 is on the map and so on.

Hearts aren’t going to accept another game on their pitch, especially this season. Hampden doesn’t have regular fixtures, and no matches would need to be rearranged to accommodate semi finals and finals, so it makes sense in that respect.

Tickets can still be bought last minute via the SFA. It’s all to do with the ticketing app being on the SFA platform, so the clubs can’t sell tickets at the last minute.

Just received the following email.
Quite ridiculous to be honest.

I are writing to inform you of an update regarding your ticket for the upcoming Scottish Cup Semi-Final at Hampden Park.
Due to an allocation issue, a small number of seats were made available for purchase that were in fact held by the SFA and should not have been sold. As a result, your original seat has now been reallocated.
We have ensured that your new seat remains within the same price category (P1/P2/P3) and is located nearby within the same stand.
Please note that you will not receive an updated confirmation email from our ticketing platform. However, your new seat details will be reflected in the Hampden Park app, where your digital ticket will appear. Tickets will show later in the week, likely around Thursday or Friday.
We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to seeing you at Hampden.

Regards,

On Saturday morning activate your tickets before heading to the game in case of signal issues near Hampden.
Once activated you won’t need a WiFi signal.

It sounds very much like what you need to do when you buy train tickets on the trainline app, very straightforward, if so!

The email was from a Carrie Love - ticketing and retail manager at dafc apparently.

Yes agreed, something doesn’t add up as there is no way it took them this long to realise they had made that mistake. I will have no idea where I’m sitting with my family now until Friday.
Don’t know where they can place us and anyone else who has received that email considering all seats in P1,2,3 are all sold.

Not everything is some malignant plot. Go enjoy the match.

Aye the club email says they were SFA held seats accidentally sold to Pars fans, so it might well be the evil suits sat there. I genuinely dont think anything is being hidden from anyone, a mistake was made and the club has owned up to it and solved it.

Its absolutely your perogative how angry you are about it but human error happens in life and its not always such an ostensibly satisfactory solution, in my opinion, that is found.

Mate if you don’t want to go i will happily take your tickets off your hands just think yourself lucky that they have even bothered to relocate you they could have just as easily refunded you and advised you to buy tickets in another part of the stadium but you will probably find that your new tickets will likely be at the very front of either P1-2-3

Your QR code automatically activates Saturday morning. You don’t need and signs
Or WiFi to use it at the gate. We have been using this system for Scotland games for a while now. The app is flawless the only issues are down to user (too much bevy) it was a nightmare to start with but seems quicker getting into the ground now

Just make sure you download ticket and the QR code appears on the morning of the match.

Don`t leave it til you get to the turnstiles & you`ll be fine 👍🏼

Even if the QR code gets the loading symbol on it, it still allows you through the turnstile - happened to me at the Japan game where I refreshed it round the stadium (and have notoriously bad signal round there) but it still allowed me into the ground.

From a google search re Hampden:

“Debentures is for membership purposes and offer exclusive access to specific matches.”

Paper tickets can be issued for people who do not have smart phones.

Like 2004Par I got sent paper tickets. Came yesterday by Special Delivery. I`ve got two debenture seats , and I think it must refer to those seats only as I think all the others are via the Hampden App.

The strange thing is that I`ve been using the Hampden App for years and the sales order said it would be delivered via the App, and hence on my mobile as usual. I was very surprised not to get them on the App.

I`m guessing there may be some IT issue with the debenture seats? Who knows.

Shellypar is perfectly correct that Comp tickets are paper ones, but sadly I pay for the debenture seats!

On the day - can I just simply pass my phone to a friend after I go through and so on and so forth rather than transfer tickets to people?
Also... if you know how please - I bought 5 tickets - one a concession - how do I identify that one on the app - they all seem to look/say the same?
Thanks in advance

There’s someone on our Supporters bus who contacted Hampden about ticket not received and they came back to say nothing to worry about, tickets continue to be released throughout today and tomorrow.

There will be someone at the stadium as well in the unlikely event tickets don’t arrive.

Section P will include the comps, SFA freebies and players` family tickets.

Will be last section to be allocated, had similar issues before with a Scotland game getting comps off a friend at the SFA and they populated on the app the day before the match.

"And /or when transferring to another person on the app is to their email address or is it within the app that they have registered for?" if transferring you just need to add the email address of the person who has registered for the hampden app and you get a notification when they "accept" and "download" it.

It`s not unfair tbh. I predict there`s not 1 person who doesnt make the game due to technology.

The Hampden app is very good, very straightforward and there are plenty of instructions available on how to manage it. You may have struggled on your own, but you`d have got there.

It is unfair twin par. Technology causes me no end of stress and frustration. It`s all to make things cheaper and easier for the providers. Effectively they sub out a lot of the admin work to the customers. We`re expected to do that work for them using brains that are compatible with their technological systems. Some folk do have such brains - good for them, but they show a lack of understanding of others, and arrogance, when they claim that everyone is like them and that all you need do is apply yourself to the task.

I`m biological not technological. Rampant technology has dehumanised and reduced the quality of my life considerably. My world is far less user-friendly because of it. And I have a Fine Art Degree, so not a complete dope.

Its not though - technology has improved the world 10x in a very short space of time. Look at this right now - 20 years ago you couldn’t converse with such a large number of Pars fans so easily. In fact, because of technology you can converse with anyone, anywhere, anytime at an instant.

Also, the reason the Hampden app was introduced was to reduce touts and and scammers from screenshotting one ticket and selling it on 5x and making money off it - they cant do that with this system now as the QR code is ever changing. The system is also a lot better than others as it actually works.

Yeah I think it’s just a lot of first time users in one space but you’ll know if/when we get to the final how easy it is just to buy the ticket the ticket will be on the app just load the app on the day of the game to make sure there’s no problem. The big thing is at the turnstiles wait until the person in front of you is through before you scan your ticket because it will scan it and then not let you through

Pars sold +10500 tickets falkirk +10400

It appears no more tickets can be sold

there will be a help area for people experiencing ticket difficulties, which is fantastic

Any supporter experiencing difficulties on match day can head to the ticket help point for Dunfermline Athletic Supporters. This will be in place from 11am at the west tunnel corner of the stadium exterior with members of DAFC and SFA staff on hand to support any ticketing queries.

I can`t think that a semi final between Falkirk and Dunfermline would be fertile territory for touts and scammers.

More supply than demand.

Different scenario of course if either side of the Glasgow mafia families were involved.

I will go with technology probably any day of the week, saves taking a day off to queue up in the peeing rain at EEP to get a paper ticket at least

Can book the plane ticket I want at a price I like , no need to pay through the nose.

Lockdown- could keep in touch with friends oversea, could still work no bother, . If it wasn`t for technology I would still be in a job I hated, rather than go around the world.

There are VERY few under 65 who aren`t comfortable with it, those that can`t, or are unable , usually there are allowances.

Here`s me and Twinpar posting about the effects of technology on us as individuals.

I`m not debating the overall worldwide pros and cons of digitalisation. It`s not about that. It`s about details such as - some people do not get along with internet/digital technology.

Regarding ticketing: on the basis of fairness, both digital and paper tickets should be provided. Only digital are provided. Result: unfairness.

There are also some people who cannot afford a smartphone or tablet, therefore they are potentially being excluded from being able to attend the match.

From The Courier.

Dunfermline’s clash with Falkirk will set a new attendance record for a Scottish Cup semi-final in the modern era.

Since the restructuring of Scottish football in the mid-1970s, only 11 semis have taken place that have not included one of the country’s ‘big city five’ clubs.

Crowds for ties involving Aberdeen, Celtic, Hearts, Hibernian and Rangers will always attract bigger crowds.

But, up until now, games not involving these sides have all drawn attendances well under 20,000.

Dunfermline’s first trip to Hampden in 17 years, however, will see a crowd of over that mark descend on the national stadium.

With ticket sales pretty much split right down the middle, the Scottish FA is anticipating an attendance of 21,500 for Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off.

Dunfermline are expected to take around 10,500 fans to the south side of Glasgow, with the club laying on 15 buses and nearly 50 officially registered by groups with the East End Park outfit.

That will make the crowd the biggest in a game not involving the big five since the 17,671 who watched Dundee United defeat Raith Rovers in the semi-final in 2010.

I think our final figure was 10800+, which when added to falkirk`s 10700 gives you the crowd the SFA are anticipating of 21500

They won`t be able to afford a semi final ticket then.

There`s a p155 poor attitude for you. In my opinion paper tickets should be available for those that want them. Football should be inclusive and accessible to all.

I`m pretty tech savvy but I do yearn for the days where you queued up to buy a paper ticket for a big match or concert. Nice little memento too. I still have a big box full that I leaf through and some nice framed concert tickets, I miss getting those nowadays

Agreed RSP - been to a few shows recently with no merchandise so absolutely no keepsake of the events.

On a football front, there were souvenir paper tickets you could order for the Euro 2020 games, which were fab, but they never did it for Germany and none for the WC tho THAT might be a blessing given it would probably cost a million quid 😬🤔🙄

Maybe they can`t afford both, & prefer to spend their disposable income on supporting the Pars, or family, or something else they see as more worthwhile than having their brains fried by the latest manifestation of `Progress`.

How is it a poor attitude? Tickets will cost more than a phone, so that’s a poor example to use.
I do actually agree that there should be tickets, but unfortunately that’s just the way things are at the moment. Especially at EEP.

It`s not a poor example. A typical smartphone might cost £15-£30 per month (perhaps over a two year contract). Tickets for the match are a one off cost of around £40?

Given we don`t usually get this far in the competition, some people might want to use what little savings they have to get to the match.

You don`t need to download the code - just open the ticket in the app & it`s there.

At Hampden there`s a slot for your phone at the turnstile - you don`t need to enlarge the QR code or anything 👍🏼

You can buy a smartphone for £40 on pay as you go, no need for a contract.

So yes, poor example.

Based on some (very) basic fag packet maths it looks to me like the club gets somewhere north of £800k from an equal share of the ticket money from the set-final.

Then we`ll get £900k+ from the final.

Obviously the SFA will get their bit, but I haven`t even taken account of TV money.

Getting to the play offs will guarantee us at least one extra home game and some additional money for a league placing improvement over last year, but possibly up to three extra home games.

Add all of that up and it probably covers a decent chunk of the investment that the new owners have put in over the last year and a half.
