Another important game for both teams
Listen to live commentary from Fir Park on BBC Sportsound from 7pm.
Victory would move Hearts 6 pts clear of Celtic.
Motherwell pushing for European place.
Thinking 1-1 draw here

Are Hearts going to blow it like they managed to do in `65 and again in `86 - not forgetting the unexpected opportunity of `59 ?

If Motherwell win this then the bookies might as well close the book on who will be the next Celtic manager.

They`re second to every ball and some of the first touches are shocking. They look seriously stressed while Motherwell players look like they`re playing in a friendly.

A shame that Motherwell are so far behind. Would have been fantastic, to see them challenging as well. Best team out of all 4 of them.

Well taken from Shankland. Hearts a bit livelier now but still sloppy with their passing and their defence is giving me the fear.

VAR check for a penalty for Hearts = ❌
Derek McInnes however is yellow carded.

Was a stonewall penalty for Hearts. Absolutely bizarre it wasn`t given

The SFA wants Celtic to win the league, so that is why it wasn`t given.

How O`Donnell doesn`t get a yellow for blatantly trying to take out Kyzaridis (I think) near the end is beyond me. There was definitely intent there to take him out. He was very lucky to have missed him.

No attempt to play the ball, would actually argue it was a red in today`s age.

Mental decision not to give Hearts a penalty. Defender clearly sees Kyziridis coming from behind and steps across to block him with no attempt at the ball. Couldn’t be more blatant.

I hope we can get away from penalties being given because there was “contact”

I am with Raymie on this one. Yes there was contact but Kizaridis clearly cheated by doing a slightly delayed theatrical dive. For me that was not a natural fall caused by significant contact. Just because you are touched in the penalty box doesn’t justify exaggerating the effect of the contact with “simulation”. I hate that . He should have been booked for simulation as should the Motherwell player who tried to manufacture a penalty later by putting his foot out to the side to try to make contact and then diving to the ground. In my book if there is any obvious simulation a penalty should not be given even if the contact was significant enough to have awarded a penalty in the absence of simulation. This is a cancer spoiling the game.

Whilst I agree with the underlying sentiment, is disagree with your assessment of this incident. That was a stonewaller. There was contact to bring the player down. The added theatre by the player is neither here nor there.

It’s a stone wall penalty for me as well. The contact from the Motherwell player stops kyziridis controlling the ball.
I agree not all contact is a foul but imo there was also enough in this one to bring him down.

I dont think its a penalty, but there were plenty free kicks given in that match for even less.

One of those where the theatrics count against the player?
Surprised at the ref checking the screen and not giving it.

Everyone was in agreement in the studio .It was a stonewaller. Motherwell supporting James McFadden included. Farcical.

Agree it was a stonewaller. I also feel, however that any blatant theatrics thereafter immediately negates any award - the only way to get rid of this blight on the modern game.

100% a penalty. The player steps across him and stamps on his foot. If that exact scenario happens at the piggery today.. it’s given 100 times out of 100.

What does pain have to do with it being a foul? A shirt pull doesn’t hurt but is a penalty. A push is a penalty.

Tbf it doesn`t have to be a leg breaker to be a foul.
