Why ?
Every club has a sub keeper on the bench.

Why? Connelly is usually on the bench. Their first choice keeper is obviously injured.

Imagine if we were in M`well`s position. Pars` fans would be livid if we didn`t do what they`ve done in the circumstances.

Do Motherwell only have 3 keepers on their books across all their squads?

He`s 3rd choice at Motherwell. One of the guys in front of him is injured, so he`s now 2nd choice and needed on the bench for them - in a big game.
If they couldn`t recall him, we probably wouldn`t have got him at all. And he`s coming back to us on Monday.
It`s really unfortunate for us but I`m not sure why anyone is angry at Motherwell. If their keeper goes down today or is sent off, it would be completely negligent if their next best option wasn`t available.

Is that relevant? We have a young keeper out on loan at St Andrews but he hasn`t been involved in our crunch games.

Im not angry at Motherwell, Im angry at the system allowing it to happen…..if we hadn’t got him at all, we most likely would have gone for someone else and he’d be 3rd choice most of season not getting game time.
The system of allowing teams to recall players in emergencies when they have available players in their squads is the farcical thing here. The fact its also hindered our chances in last nights game, for him to (most likely) sit on the bench today for 90 minutes surely proves that?

We also named a young keeper amongst our subs the other week just to fill the bench……its relevant if it hampers us in a big game - which it did.
If Ox remains on the bench today, will Motherwell compensate us in some way for being affected?

Why would they need to compensate us?
He is their keeper, their first choice is injured so they can recall him to their bench. Any other team including us would exactly the same.

Does it not apply to keepers only - as it is the most specialist position.
Not sure Motherwell will fancy paying compensation for doing everything by the book.

Buyer or borrower beware I think Dave. As long as they complied with the contract then they are fine, as annoying as it is.
If we wanted to derisk this we should have been looking for 4th choice keepers.
And perhaps we did, and on balance it was best going with Ox. I do think he is very good.
If we had gone for a 4th choice we may have missed the play offs and not made the cup final....who knows.
I`m grateful the team and management at least got us to this point.
And if it means I don`t have to watch someone doing keepie uppies before trying to catch the ball infront of an oncoming forward I will be happy.

Motherwell are well within their rights to call back Ox. If Connolly gets injured and they have to put in a youth player, and lose as a result of his errors, how would they feel about that?
We got him emergency loan and one of the conditions of that loan is that they could call him back.
Frustrating as it is, it’s just a really unfortunate set of circumstances. Especially as our replacement had a nightmare and contributed to us losing the game.

If he was gonna be on the bench could he not of still played for us last night. Little chance of getting injured and it’s not like goalies are round round all over the pitch. Not sure if a played ever played two days in a row for two different clubs.
