Thats what we will be on Saturday for sure.
Am I right in thinking that no team from a lower league has ever won the Scottish Cup by beating a team from the top flight in the final let alone the league champions ?
Edit. Queens Park did it in 1893 v Celtic
Only other teams I can think of that won a cup by defeating a team from top division was East Fife and Rovers ( both league cup ).. Maybe an omen ?
East Fife did do it in 1938. Fife teams have a habit then. Our turn ?

East Fife Scottish Cup 1938 for certain - not sure about QP 1893 - was there more than one division then ?
Hibs 2016 were in the Championship, as were Rangers, so it wasn`t a team beating a side from a higher division.
UPDATE - Queens Park declined to play in the Scottish League until 1900-01 in order to protect their amateur status - so their 1893 Scottish Cup win was obviously as a non league side.

It’s going to take a monumental effort and slices of fortune on Saturday like as an early red card for Celtic and a penalty for us.
Ideally, we’re looking at the score level at around 80 minutes and a player to the good.
I’m just going to enjoy the day and see how it unfolds.
Nobody is giving us a chance on Saturday anyway.

Underdogs for sure - well we’ve been underdogs against all the Prem teams we have faced and seen them off with terrific defence and confidence. The lads will have had a well deserved weeks rest been able to watch the highly tensioned Celtic vs Hearts finale and learned a good bit about what it is going to take.
Lennon will be well aware of what’s required and sitting back defending for 90+ minutes is constant tension and pressure. I hope to see him send the boys out to 1. Play as well as they can do and have been (defensively with exception to Partick game we have been pretty solid)
2. Go and enjoy and savour the moment
3. Try to gain the confidence to attack and take game to Celtic.
4.Feed off the desire and atmosphere from the thousands of fans surrounding them. It’s gonna be noisy!!
5. Absolutely nobody believes Dunfermline Athletic will win it …. So let’s prove to these bar stewards we can and will !!
Personally I think the game on Saturday will have an impact on the Celtic players, they will have been celebrating with a fair few that night and if they suffer from hangovers like I do then they’ll be screwed for a month 🤣
See you all on Saturday COYP

We might well be massive underdogs but we are a bit of an unknown team for that lot given they have never played against this group of players and don’t know what we are capable of
Also all the gams NL has been a pundit for involving Celtic could work to our advantage and in all honesty I’d treat Saturday like we have treated every game against premier league teams in this cup run the same and come out the blocks flying

Hopefully our guys don’t see themselves as underdogs but as equals. We have nothing to fear from this Celtic team, they’re only a mere shadow of the great Celtic teams. That said, we must give them the respect they deserve but no more than that. Play the team in front of us, not the name. We’ve beaten three SPL teams to get here, we’re here by right not by chance or luck of the draw.
This is doable if we believe we can do it.

We don’t need to look back to the nineteenth century for precedents, the last two Hampden finals will do.
Celtic were overwhelming favourites to beat Aberdeen in last year’s Cup Final and St Mirren in this season’s League Cup Final. At the back of their minds, they will be fearing three in a row.

I am confident we have enough firepower to score a goal. Beyond that, I have no idea - the score could be anything from 1-0 to 1-5!
But it`s been 19 years since we lost a Scottish Cup Final to Celtic, let`s keep that run going ... 😁

I was feeling a bit like this may be a step too far, but a Hibs fan at work today was saying that in no way can Dunfermline be written off. The pressure is on Celtic, they lost their last Scottish Cup Final to Aberdeen, they lost the League Cup Final to St Mirren and they have been pushed hard by many teams this season. His point was that if Hibs, Aberdeen or Falkirk were up against Celtic on Saturday, then no one would be writing them off, and we beat all those teams. We are in with a shout here. COYP!

We just need to do a little bit better than Auchinleck Talbot, who earlier in this competition held Celtic to 1-0 until the 87th minute (final score 2-0), despite not being allowed to play their home tie at their home ground.

Still we can win, but it has to go right on the day, they are not notinvincible, we are difficult to beat, except for stupid keeper mistakes.
Anyway I will enjoy the day whatever happens

Lennon on STV “ we are the underdogs but the underdogs bite” he’s well up for this and imo will know O’Neill preparation for the game working under him as a player for so long..O’Neil is old school and Lennon will know what he is doing on the sidelines…this could be a win for the pars on Saturday!!!

We are underdogs but we have earned the right to be in the final. Beating three SPL teams along the way is justification. We need to believe we can do it and take the game to them in the same way we got here. Sitting back and letting them play their own game will not work.

Football is no walk it the park, but this is Mount Everest stuff.
Got through the last few weeks by blind optimism but now on the eve of the battle the reality of what we face is sinking in.
Tokyo Buster theory, everyone has a day where they can beat anyone. We need to be at our best, things have to go our way, they have to be off their game.
I wouldn`t swap where we are and what we face for the universe then some, this is how I want us to win it, when everything is against us.
Let`s bring the cup home.
