I was emotional when I saw Roy carry the Scottish Cup onto the field at Hampden yesterday. For those of us that were at the 1968 Cup final win, it was very disappointing that Roy and the team did not get to do a lap of honour to acknowledge the supporters that were there that day. It is 58 years too late but at least he was able to carry the Cup onto Hampden (with Paul Lambert). Roy looked very good and I was proud to know that he is my all time favourite Pars player and see an absolute gentleman representing the many thousands of Pars supporters. I know that Roy has health issues, but he carried that duty for the Pars with ease and with a huge smile on his face. Well done Roy

Amazingly I was sat a couple of seats away from Roy during the game. He kept tutting when we passed it backwards :).

He was on our bus! Had a wee chat to him after the game. Lovely man.

Good to see you both before the game and a well deserved moment for Roy.

Watching the "Unseen Moments" video, I liked how Roy re-enacted his 1968 one-handed brandishing of the cup.

Roy is a great ambassador for the club - and I’ve had a couple or so interesting chats with him.
Answered a question reference the amazing 4-5 defeat v Celtic at EEP mid ‘60s.

I thought he looked a bit irked that Lambert took the cup first 😂. No wonder. He turned to the fans straight away when he got a hold of it. The tifo was already up if we knew that was coming from Roy im sure the fans would have waited. It`s brilliant to still have people like him around the club.

Paul was to raise the Cup first. The SFA protocol was given to Roy prior to leaving the tunnel. Can only think as Celtic were home team.
Paul was a gentleman.

Good Post Townsvillepar
Yes very fitting and emotional .. I too was at the 1968 final and felt so sorry for Roy and the team that they could not celebrate with the fans .. I still have the scarf i wore that day and I gave it to a good friend who wore it at the final for me hoping it would bring us luck .. but sadly no
How good would it have been if Roy held the cup after the 90 mins

Thanks Buspasspar. I also still have the scarf I wore to the Cup Final in 1968! Its framed with a couple of strips from Yesteryear. It`s shrunk a bit from the early days but it brings back great memories. I also wore it at the Hawthorns when we beat West Brom, what a night that was!

My grandad was at that game. I’d love to see those fixtures in a Pars season again… hopes and dreams I suppose!!!!

The WBA game on the big screen at EEP - blew down not long after Pat Gardner scored to start a mad scramble around the terracing to the middle one that managed to survive !!!
Happy Days !!!

Indeed, after we scored it was backs to the wall for most of the game, like the siege at the Alamo - Roy and Jim Fraser were outstanding that night.....Jeff Astle never got a sniff !!!
