Scotland won the return leg 5-1 with four goals from Caroline Weir. Belgium beat Luxembourg 7-0 but Scotland win the group with superior goal difference of one which means promotion to League A and a more favourable seeding for the WC qualification play-offs. One of CW`s goals was as soft a penalty as you`re ever likely to see.

I watched the match. It was actually getting tense towards the end despite the Scoreline as Belgium kept knocking in the goals and was down to one goal at one point.
Not a great performance from Scotland who preferred passing side to side rather than find a through ball but the pitch looked terrible as well.
Agree about the penalty award.
I wasn’t even sure it was handball but even if so, there wasn’t much the defender could have done on the ground to avoid it.
Caroline Weir showed her class over all the rest mind you.
One of her goals was a peach of the bar.

I suppose if you want to compare it to the men’s game it will always seem that way but I enjoy it for what it is.
The women are never going to have the physical attributes that male players have or the speed and power of shooting etc etc but the basic tactics are no different and I can differentiate between the two and still enjoy a game of football with women.
It has moved on a lot from say 20 years ago when you only watched it to laugh at the mistakes keepers made.

Fair points - AAPS. I also enjoy the women`s game for what it is in the same way I enjoy watching both women`s and men`s tennis. In fact women`s tennis is often more enjoyable in my view.
On this point though...

How many Pars players do you think could beat Salma Paralluelo over 400m? or even over 50m?

The women`s game certainly doesn`t lack passion! 8 red cards (4 players, head coach and 3 backroom staff) were shown to Brazil in the closing stages of their 1-0 home loss to the USA yesterday. The Women`s World Cup will be staged there next year.
