I don`t think it`s oor Jeff, wee Eck. The BBC lists him as a defender. In fact AI says the Paraguayan player is Juan Jose Caceres, full back, born in Argentina.

Come on the Albirroja! Sounds like a good nickname that. Not much when translated though. (The white and red) Come on the Albirroja!

I thought he`d maybe gone on a course of steroids since his return home and discovered a Paraguayan granny.

I`ve not been watching the match, so I`ve not seen him. Caceres on steroids - are you sure it`s no Nat Wedderburn?

My prediction: We will see more and more matches ending in PKs as teams play to get to PKs. For that reason, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a few of the favorites not make it as far as expected.

disgusting decision against Germany with the VAR goal there.
Slowly losing interest in our game bit by bit. Game is a mess.

Haven`t watched many games so far with being away & doing other things, but that`s a prime example why I rarely watch neutral games anymore.

VAR is / continues to be an absolute joke but also - can`t be arsed with the play acting like Paraguay`s goalkeeper that lead to the bs from VAR either.

I actually really detest modern day football and if hadn`t been watching it since I was 12, I doubt I`d get into it now at all tbh, save for a few occasions when it`s mildly interesting.

The game truly is ruined.

Edited to add - not even bothered that I'll miss the overnight games now I'm back.

That could have been us, the whole nation up watching it, thousands more flying out just to be there, drinking Boston dry again, dumping out the Jerries on penalties simultaneously throwing shade at our fellow island dwellers who choke in such circumstance,.

But it isn`t because our players bottled it.

Regarding the VAR / chalked off German `goal` - I don`t believe the goalie sat down on purpose to get a foul. The idea that a goalie would play for a foul in that situation seems absurd.

I agree, I think in the collision with the attacker he just came off worse and lost his balance, so although he scrambled to his feet he wasn`t properly set to deal with the shot.

I suppose it`s part of the trend to consider the keeper the innocent party whenever there is any contact, but I thought the Germans were hard done by.
