^^^ Flying through the air before the keeper even reaches him whilst dragging his legs hoping to make contact. Should have been a yellow card for simulation.

Commentators arguing should have been a penalty 🙄😁😁

Yes as was said50 50 ball, kane started to dive before the challenge, and gets nothing, could even have been a yellow. Glad to see this trait of football is not being rewarded in the world cup. Alan shearer stated tgere was contact and does not have to jump to miss the keeper, equally the keeper does not have to avoid the player during the save. It was no contact and a kane dive, again a serial cheater fails.

At least Rooney doesn’t have his rose tinted glasses on and called it as not a penalty.

Rooney pointed it out - he tripped himself up, stuck his foot in the ground before he even reached the keeper, then does an American Football style “2 feet down” with his left foot after the contact with the keeper. Get it up him.

Kane looks like he`s diving into a swimming pool. Classic diving style. Angleterries on the brink. Yesterday they were mapping out their route to the final. Oh it`s good to be neutral.

Kane was completely looking for it there. It`s given in the Premier League but not at this world cup. Think of the two decisions Scotland weren`t given against Morocco.

Kane carries that England team. He may be a diver but you can`t deny his ability in front of goal, absolutely lethal

Will be good to see how they play in "normal" temperatures for the area rather than the air conditioned stadiums they`ve had in a couple of games so far.
NOT an anti english statement ....but how can some teams play in baking 30+ heat and yet others in Air conditioned stadiums? . surely it affects not only the individual games but also fatigue in later rounds for some teams?

Mexico take the lead against them and they will struggle with the altitude and heat to keep going for a leveller. Only played in USA so far and 2 games indoors, wont help them. Without Kane they weren’t very good today.

Playing inside in air conditioning isn’t ideal preparation for Azteca: altitude, heat and smog. Also, apparently the Mexican fans were noisy all night outside the hotel where the Ecuador team stayed so they got no sleep.

England will have to play a lot better than they have in their last 3 games, Mexico play with very high intensity in conditions that England won’t be used to.

I was at this match today. Was in a suite with a mixture of Mexican, Argentine and Colombian fans. A couple of England fans. Neutrals definitely favouring Congo. Really only saw just how many England fans were there when Harry Kane scored.

I know the England fans get a bit of stick but never had a problem with any of the ones I met. I was standing in a long queue at the FIFA Fan event and three Congo fans in front of me. Lots of fans came up and asked to get their photo taken with them, mostly English. I ended up being an unofficial photographer. All in good spirits. The funny part was after queuing for almost an hour and a half to get some FIFA charm bracelets being given out by a sponsor, the Congo fans turned around and asked how to get into the Stadium and showed me their tickets. They thought the queue was to get into the stadium! I got them sorted. We still had an hour and half before kickoff, I assured them we had plenty of time.

I’ve been to the Atlanta stadium many times to see the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United, certainly was a unique and entertaining experience for a World Cup game.

Will the atmosphere inside the Azteca, both literally and from the home support, be enough to offset the gulf in class between the players? I certainly hope so but England are rightfully favourites to progress and if they do I`m not sure I`d fancy Brazil or Norway to beat them in the quarters.

Pompey, how many of those competitive games were against European or South American opposition though? This will be the toughest game England have had so far in the tournament but it`s the toughest game Mexico will have had for decades.

Decades may be pushing it a little.

I suspect Mexico world ranking based on home games at the Azteca may put them a little higher than 14th.

A lot of their losses have been away or in neutral venues.

Don’t underestimate how hard playing at altitude is.
Some players can actually get dizzy and nausea, if not accustomed

I guess that’s where the term, reaching the dizzy heights, comes from?

The USA has a miserable record playing in Azteca. No question it evens the playing field.

I wouldn`t say Mexico need the Azteca factor to level the playing field against the USA. They beat them in the Gold Cup Final in Houston last summer I think. Against England it might yet tilt the odds in their favour but to counter that England have arguably the best forward in the world up front and Mexico have championship striker Raul Jimenez up front.

As usual, England will struggle against a well organised team with quality. Mexico haven`t looked great from what I`ve seen, but based on what both teams have produced so far, they look evenly matched. I`d expect a close game.

This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it.
