Ah no. Genuinely gutted. As a young lad ( early 70s) I had two pictures of footballers on my wall , one was Keegan ( the other was Dalglish) hugely saddened , RIP Kevin and thanks for all the memories.

That is really so sad, a great player and never reticent to speak his mind.
I wonder if he’ll be up there reminiscing with Billy Bremner about their Charity Shield clash from 1974 (?) at Wembley ?

The two games that stand out as Newcastle manager, were the 4-3 loss at Anfield with Kevin slumped over the barrier and the 5-0 drubbing of Man Utd, with Philippe Albert lobbing Schmeichel for the 5th

Abiding memory away from football was him crashing his bike on superstars at full speed. When stars from all sports seemed to be within touching distance and not too far removed from everyday life. Lucky to meet him at a few horse racing events and he really was a decent spud. Nothing seemed to much bother and he never seemed in a hurry to leave a conversation.

A fantastic player, great manager. Played football the right way. He also came across as a man of great moral standing, and a really nice chap as well. A real shame.
Just spent an hour or so reading about him, seemed like a great life and career he had. At the point he won his second European Footballer of The Year award, only Alfredo Di Stefano, Franz Beckenbauer and Johan Cruyff had achieved that feat
