FFS! It feels like we’ve had zero luck the last few seasons when it comes to injuries. Wishing Olie a quick recovery he’s looked decent so far and we could really do with him playing in as many games as possible.

In recent years Jamie McCunnie was fourth official in one of our games. That`s the closest I can think of to this but there will probably be other examples.

In bygone years, referees could not referee their hometown team and also had to declare the team they supported. Pretty sure there are no such restrictions nowadays.
Not your average Sunday League player.

Murdoch was ref when we played East Kilbride in a friendly last year. Can’t remember him being favourable against or for us. I do t think ex players should be officiating teams they’ve played for but I do think ex players turning to refs is a positive thing.

Now that players can move at will under freedom of contract it`s likely they`ll have a long list of clubs they`ve played for when they retire. If they decide to take up refereeing it could restrict their progress if they aren`t allowed to officiate at games involving former clubs. Maybe that`s why they relaxed the rules. As well as playing for the Pars Sean Murdoch also had spells at Forfar, Hamilton and Hibs,

Are you sure about that? I know that in England there is an obligation for refereees to declare which team they support, but I don`t remember any such requirement ever being in place in Scotland - and I wouldn`t want to see it happen here.
With so much of Scotland`s population concentrated in 4 cities, even moreso in the past, banning refs if their hometown team was involved would severely limit the availability of top refs for most top games. And lots of people support a team from a different town or city anyway.
Also, supporting a specific team might mean you want another specific team to lose, and could be seen as being biased against it in crucial games.

When I played, one of my team mate`s husband was a ref.
We used to absolutely hate when he was in charge of our games as he used to give us absolutely nothing so he couldn`t be accused of any bias.
It was a nightmare!!

Thomas would’ve been a great option today with his pace and running in the channels. Would be great if we could get him back. Offers something different to our current strike options.

Sorry GG, I still don`t think there has ever been any requirement for referees in Scotland to declare support for any particular club. I`m sure that if there had been there would have been lots of references to it in newspaper reports, and that it would have entered into the folklore of football fans. But if you can show any reference to such a regulation I`ll gladly admit I`m wrong!
I suppose there may have been some informal arrangements made by whoever did the match allocations, such as ensuring that a Rangers v Celtic match was not refereed by Mason Boyne or Paddy Doyle, but that`s a long way short of a requirement to formally declare allegiance to a particular club.
I did ask Google AI to answer the question: "Did Scottish football referees ever have to declare their club allegiance?" and got this answer:
