Tis a braw day here in Paisley. A strong breeze and blue sky. My supporters bus stopped in Cumbernauld for a bowling club lunch and it was bucketing when we left.
The Pars fans are housed in the north stand.
I hope we don’t get mixed up with the home side in black and white

No VAR - presumably cause the lower league grounds don`t have it 🤔
Actually think we're doing ok - disallowed goal aside, they've not really done anything of note.
Amade unlucky with his shot - not too disappointed so far.
St Mirren are starting to get the better of it, possession wise tho so getting to half time at least level is vital.

The game has gone pretty much as I thought. Pars need to win, but if the winner comes in the last minute, then so be it.
Saints know they win the group, unless they get turned over by three, so being sensible.
Second half could well be the same, until the last 10-15, when Pars will have to have a real go ?

Could do with a bit more in the middle. Gilmour on for the second half if he’s fit enough would be good. Some decent moments in the first half but they’ve probably shaded it. Tod having a decent game up top and Rudden isn’t doing too bad, but Morrison is offering nothing unfortunately. Missing Shaw in that front 3.

Think we have done well here without creating too much. The 3 up front pressing stopping St Mirren from going through the middle of the park is working.
I do worry about balls over the top but have defended them ok. Robinson has been composed. Amade winning tackles.
Kearney looks far more confident. Fraser put in a great ball that should have had someone trying to get on the end of it .
Poor decision to disallow the St Mirren goal imo. I wonder if Sean Murdoch may have shown bias in that decision.
Not because he is a former Par but because he was a goalkeeper.

Great performance. We had the better opportunities despite having less of the ball. Chris Kane as always the man on the spot. A gpod test against premiership opposition. Defensively I thought the back three were excellent. I thought we lost out a little in midfield. St Mirren move the ball better I thought but had very little in front of goal as we defended so well. Yesterday, knowing we needed some highly unlikely results to go our way, and then we`d have to beat St Mirren in Paisley - I thought the odds of us qualifying must be thousands to one against.
So all I can do is applaud everyone at EEP who helped to bring about such a stunning achievement.

first touchline ban for the glorified PE teacher to come with his "who did the referee play for? comment.....
fancied our chances more with that guy in charge than if it had been a Robinson side, add in a home tie in the next round then its not been a bad weekend. only possible down side is looked like a dead leg for Oxborough, wasnt moving great in the second half.

Great win. Impossible to tell which was the premier league team.
Thought Cleall-Harding and Tod played really well and Ox looked pretty assured as usual (definitely not a foul for the goal though).
I thought Amade and Corbally were both pretty neat, but we missed Gilmour presence. Will be interesting to see who starts next week I’d probably lean towards Corbally/Gilmour.
Kearney didn’t do anything wrong but I think he lacks the power to get past a full back and often ends up coming inside if he can’t get an early cross in.
Think Morrison will find himself back on the bench. Barely touched the ball!
Couldn’t have got a better draw either - not that County will be an easy game, but of the seeded teams you’d be hoping for them at home.
Lennon doing a great job with all these cup upsets. Think most Pars fans fancied our chances today despite St Mirren being comfortable favourites with the bookies.

Gameplan worked out perfect. 0-0 and penalty in the dying minutes and Chris Kane on the park.
I thought we defended brilliantly after we settled into the game.
Saints looked like less a threat as the game went on and we looked more a threat last 20 minutes.
Cup draw is at home and Lennon knows Ross County are a different breed this season so it will be a test.
Our players rose to the challenge today so let’s enjoy the night.

On the way home today, my son said, “Dad, this time last year we were at Dunfermline v Stirling at East End.” It immediately took me back to that game and made me realise just how far we’ve come in a year.
Today, I thought we looked every bit a Premiership side, and so many players can hold their heads high. The effort levels were outstanding. We’ve completely changed the way we play, we look like a proper footballing team now, and I genuinely can’t wait for the league season to get underway next week.
Talking of footballing sides, St Mirren have changed the way they play as well. Had the referee managed the game a little better, I think it could have been a proper spectacle. Too often it was broken up by St Mirren’s streetwise antics. If Murdoch had stamped that out earlier, the game would have flowed much better and been a real cracker.
I genuinely don’t know where to start summing it all up, so I’ll just say this: from the starting 11 to every substitute who came on, we looked really good. St Mirren had long spells of possession, but I never really felt they looked like scoring.
Once we’d worked out how they were trying to play out from the goalkeeper and when to start the press properly, they really struggled to get out. From then on, it felt like it was only a matter of time before we scored. From where I was sitting it looked a stonewall penalty, although we’d already had a couple of other big shouts that looked just as clear, so it was more relief than anything when Murdoch finally pointed to the spot.
Once again, I’m absolutely delighted and can’t wait to get up to Inverness next week. The season has started with a bang, and if we can produce performances like that more often than not, I genuinely think we’re in for a very positive season.

Aye commentators were biased and just looking to hook someone in —- on pretty simple and not really controversial decisions - maybe just practicing for the premier league once it starts….
On disallowed goal from behind the goal camera angle looks like goalkeepers hands are on the ball and st Mirren player dives into it and keeper recklessly and he falls over
No problem any ref giving a foul there - fine if it’s one of those if VAR thought different but that wasn’t in play here.
Penalty was a penalty all day doesn’t even look at ball just turns and barges into bray

Murdoch was not great today but don`t think he was bias.
The St Mirren Goal should have stood as their player got to the ball before Ox, but we should have had a penalty for high feet.
Murdoch a bit erratic with his yellow cards also.
The penalty was a penalty so don`t think anyone can complain about that

I thought Murdoch was very poor as a ref.
He failed on many occasions to play advantage and at least two of the yellow cards weren’t warranted.
He was bad for both sides though.
Their ‘goal’ should have stood. There was no foul and OX played a blinder acting injured.
But we should have had a penalty earlier with a clear kick to the head so it evened itself out.

The problem is as soon as Murdoch makes a poor decision in our favour for the disallowed goal you`re going to get that backlash, along with the penalty (a stonewaller that he got correct).
Some St Mirren fans are deflecting from the fact their team essentially did nothing with the ball the whole game, felt similar to watching a Tidser or Grant team going forward much of the time.
Lennon got it spot on, despite us not having a great deal of the ball in the first half, Amade and Rudden had a couple of good shots saved and in the second half the team grew into the game and really dominated the latter period.
I think getting Ox back and bringing Robinson in (despite still being pretty young himself) has helped add a wee bit of experience for Tod and SCH who were both terrific today. Hopefully it sets us up well for the start of the league and what`ll be a difficult fixture away to Inverness next weekend.

So it seems like the plan against opponents from the league above is to sit in and keep it to 0-0 and then score a late winner (unless they`re Aberdeen).
That`s quite a few scalps from the division above in the calendar year so far.

I think the ref realised that he messed up when he never gave us a free kick and played an advantage (which there never was any) and then gave us a free kick when the scored for a foul on Ox. But then to not award a penalty for the high boot when anywhere else on the pitch it’s a foul. So for there gaffer to come out and say he was biased is very poor and should rightly be served with a fine and touch line ban

I remember that incident, Westie. The game was at EEP and there were strong claims that the ref in question, Gavin Duncan, who awarded Falkirk a penalty, was himself a Falkirk fan. Have to say if that was at the other end, we`d be raging. Wasn`t impressed by Murdoch the ref tbh - first time I have seen him officiating.
Seemed card happy and then that decision.
Penalty was a penalty all day long so don`t think anyone can compain about that.
Easy to see why St Mirren finished in the bottom 2 and only survived via the play off final.
Can see them struggling again this season - didn`t think they offered very much despite some periods of possession.
Funny how this cup works out - def rather have a difficult but very winnable home draw than away against one of the gruesome twosome.
We won`t make any money next round as can`t see tv taking our game & County will likely bring their usual paltry support, but if we can get through, who knows ......

For the not given penalty to St Mirren, it looked like he gave a free kick for the dive by the forward? I certainly thought simulation.
As has been said, Murdoch was inconsistent in the calling of fouls, issuing of cards, and in not pulling play back when there was no advantage. I posted above at half time that I thought he was trying hard not to appear biased. Surprised he gave us any penalty but it was a stonewaller.
McLeish`s post match comment should earn him a ban. We were obviously going to go for it in the last 10 minutes and he subbed a bunch of kids on. St Mirren were a poor shadow of the cup winning team so it sounded like sour grapes.

I thought he didn`t give the St Mirren a goal on s couple of factors mentioned above, he played advantage when there wadn`t reallyone and should have pulled it back, but also simulation - diving. He blew the whistle when he dived, before the ball went into the back of the net.

he didnt book the player so that should rule out a dive, going to presume he thought Oxborough had his hands on the ball which is then deemed to be in control, the forward kicks the ball out of his hands which is the foul.
the biggest laugh though is a small group of StMirren fans before the game wanting to beg their board to get the league to vote on removing VAR for the season yet complaining there was no VAR for the game yesterday......

St Mirren manager Craig McLeish faces being disciplined by the Scottish FA following comments made following his side`s 1-0 defeat by Dunfermline Athletic in the Premier Sports Cup on Sunday.
Speaking on Premier Sports afterwards, the 36-year-old questioned decisions by the match officials and asked who referee Sean Murdoch played for.
The 39-year-old had two spells as a goalkeeper with Dunfermline before becoming an official.
McLeish has now been called to a hearing on Thursday, 27 August to hear a notice of complaint over "Disciplinary Rule 72".
That rule says no club official should criticise a match official "in such a way as to indicate bias or incompetence" or make comments "which impinge on his character".
