His name popped up in the latest OpenGoal interview with Scott Brown.
Scott advises if Peter and Tony Mowbray stayed he`d have left as quickly as possible and he had no time at all for Peter Grant.

Dark days indeed. Although his impressive relegation bound Alloa were enough to impress our then board into giving him a job. The real deal so they were...

Looking back it’s mental how we can sign a manager that got a team relegated to a division below. I’ll never forget the cup game at I Rox and he played 3 at the back…😩

All because an ex-member of the board had a chat with him and thought he was alright. Absolutely insane!

Sure he said `my CV speaks for itself`.
Appointing a few sheets of A4 would have provided us a better manager.

He was sacked in Oct 2021 and has never had a manager`s job since... it really was an insane appointment.
I think the quote about his CV was that he didn`t even have one, but if he did have a CV it would "blow everyone else`s out the water"

He didn`t even hand one in. Was a bonkers time at the club.

He gets a bad rap.
If he had turned three of his draws into wins, the percentage of his record would have been similar to Jocky Scott.

His win rate with Alloa was 25.7%, Dunfermline 16.7% and Fulham 33.3%
Despite this, Grant has earned respect in football for his coaching work. He has held coaching and assistant roles at clubs including Celtic, West Ham, Aston Villa, Norwich City, Fulham, and with the Scotland national team, where he has generally been regarded more highly as a coach than as a first-team manager.

Jocky Scott
Iain Munro
Davie Hay
Peter Grant
All seem to have good reputations as coaches within the game.
All terrible Dunfermline managers
Both statements can be true I guess
I quite enjoyed Scott Browns open goal interview to be honest, seems a decent bloke.

Yeah it’s not too hard to think of our worst managers really.
I was about in the early 80’s when Pat Stanton was there and while undoubtedly respected by fans he did sign a record breaking deal in Doug Considine for about 35000 which was enormous in 1980!
Pound for pound our worst one ever but to counteract that he did bring Norrie and Stevie Morrison so I think I’ll forgive Pat.
Tam Forsyth was a disaster. Just finished up playing and treated part time football players like crap.
Iain Munro really doesn’t need commentated on. Stabbed Leishman in the back when we were on the cusp of something great in 1990 with the help of Blair Morgan.
Jocky Scott just didn’t seem to WANT to fit in somehow.
He never got the club, the fans or the history.

One of the weirdest things about the Jocky Scott appointment was Gordon Wallace left his role as Dundee manager to be Jocky`s assistant.
Dundee were in the old first division at the time he left, he was replaced by Simon Stainrod.
Dundee won the first division and we were relegated from the premier.

I’m not defending Jocky Scott, but:
he got sacked for finishing 3rd in the second tier i.e one place better than last season;
he signed Hamish French.

Fair enough but I remember him VIVIDLY hunching to the dugout when we were humiliated one day.
Pars had far better ambitions then.

Yeah - now that you mention it, his complete inability to ever beat the wee team and that home defeat by a dreadful Cowdenbeath side was pretty bad.

I can`t remember the exact stats, but we had a healthy lead over Kilmarnock. (It was either 5 pts with 7 games to play, or 7 pts with 5 to play.) We picked up ONE point from our remaining games (2-2 v Killie at EEP) and even contrived to get scudded by the Blue Brazil at home and that was only one of two wins they managed all season and they were relegated, of course.
Not your average Sunday League player.

I forgot about that awful Blue Brazil game! I think that was the season chronicled in the brolly"Black Diamonds anthem Blue Brazil" book.
My memories of Jockey Scott was just awful, joyless football, and just a grumpy manager - I`m sure he was fine as a person, but if you manage a provincial club, you have to take part with the fans and community.
Tam Forsyth beats him for me, I grew up with Harry Melrose teams, which I just remember really fondly, Pat Stanton had a better budget it seemed, and signed some good players, Tam Forsyth was all grim after these two.
