Former Pars striker Mark Burchill has followed Sporting Director Richard Hughes from Liverpool to the Saudi Arabian League club, Al-Hilal, as Director of Recruitment.
Al-Hilal, who recently signed striker Olly Watkins from Aston Villa, have just lost a 47-game unbeaten run!

Doing very well for himself after his playing career!

He`s the sort of striker we could do with now but didn`t he fall out with Pars` fans at one point during his time at the club?

Yeah. When he missed a sitter in the 2007 cup final :)

If memory serves me right, his cup final chance was similar to Morrisons chance in the semi v Falkirk last season 🤔

Was definitely more than a `half chance` VEE. My original post was tongue in cheek - It wasn`t a sitter in the Peter Van Vossen, Harald Brattbakk class, but it was a chance that he definitely should have taken.
Dave_1885 is right, it was very similar (arguably better) than Morrison`s v Falkirk. he should have scored.

For me, it was because under Stephen Kenny, he didn`t try a leg. And he wasn`t alone. Yet the first game after Kenny was sacked, he was busting a gut. Very unprofessional.

He 100% should have hit the target. It was a great chance to take lead.

This is an almost impossible question to answer, but who was it that missed a sitter around 15-20 years ago? Think it was a league game, the ball was played almost perfectly to him in the 6 yard box from the right but this player missed it and then went mental because the pass was only 99% perfect instead of 100%. I was there and can remember thinking `what a twât` over his reaction. It wasn`t Crawford or Brew, might have been Burch, might have been against Raith I honestly cant remember. Pretty obscure question.

Sure someone was on here recently claiming that he missed it on purpose as he wanted Celtic to win the cup!
I think it`s grown arms and legs over the years as it was our only really good chance of the game and it was such a poor effort.

I’m glad he’s doing well after football.
My memory of him for the pars tho was he was either injured, not up to fitness or just shot shy. He really was on the slide by the time he came to us.

I often wonder what it does to players mentally to drop down the levels, particularly those that have played at (or very close to) the very highest levels. How hard is it to reach the same personal levels even though you feel like you`re trying your best? Would make an interesting study.

Awful experience, but perhaps not quite as bad as the final in 91, when we lost meekly to Hibs?

He was 25-28 when with us and according to DA Heritage Trust scored 31 goals in 99 (75/24) appearances so not too shabby. He was one of those guys who maybe peaked too early!

Yeah, I’ve wondered myself. I’m not putting guys who have aged past their prime then continue to play down the leagues in the same category.
We’re talking 25years ago but I’m pretty certain Burchill blew his knee-badly and then there was a decline in performance. I always thought he looked under confident and shot shy in a Pars top, when he played against us for Celtic he was always dangerous cos he was quick but would have test the keeper 🤷🏻♂️

Burchill`s goals and McGregor in nets basically kept us up in the 05/06 season. Burchill also played a massive part in getting us to the League Cup Final.

May be long since broken but it was his for a while at least.

Nice one Connor, didn`t realise that.
That will now make his biggest cult claim to fame being the player who smacked the ball at Harry Redknapp whilst he was being interviewed on telly :-)

Pat Clarke. There`s a blast from the past.
I remember his debut against Dundee Utd in 2004. We had a crazy fixture pile up due to the cup run and ended up having 4 games in 7 days or something so played a reserve team in that one.
I genuinely thought we were on the way to becoming the 3rd force in Scottish football then.
How quickly it all unravelled.
