I missed the Rovers game and it feels like ages since I have been at East End. Are the under21s and under 18s also playing that weekend?

They have a game on Sept 30th…..Not sure if any players called up could play against Partick then join the squad ? I would imagine AT and SCH will be in the squad and probably Kearney for Eire…. assuming they are playing on same date..

What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

The club has requested the postponement of the Partick and Stenny games, according to the Dunfermline Press.

I thought that pehaps the squad depth we have this season will overcome the compressed schedule towards the end of the season.

Those were scheduled games for a team who qualified for play offs and had a cup run to the final. None of them were rescheduled league game which parsfan97 was alluding to.
I think I am right in saying that one of those game, Airdrie away 2-2 is when Turley picked up the injury that ruled him out of the final. Regardless of squad size it is never a good thing having a few games in hand and having to squeeze them into the end of season when we will hopefully have playoff games to look forward to again…..unless we finish top…

What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

We do have a big squad but I suppose if we lose too many in the same positions we`re really struggling.

A.Tod
J.Tod
Kearney
Lobban
SCH
Amade
Oyirwoth

...are away or could be away I think.

We maybe have enough cover to make up a starting lineup but it`s a real struggle should anything then happen to those covering.

Read what he actually said. Not what you think he alluded to. Our management team dealt with these rescheduled games quite well, so much so that we all enjoyed the end of the season quite a lot. So these rescheduled games didn`t "cost us"

My favourite end of season game was the 2-2 draw with Airdrie when a lot of the young lads had a run out. Very enjoyable.
Result wise the favourite was against F***irk.

The squad depth certainly helps with dealing with fixture backlog and congestion.

Would be madness to not ask for the original games to be moved and losing some of our best players all at the same time.

I don’t see how anyone can look and say the fixture congestion harmed us more than just normal games on every Saturday injuries happen but I think the best spell we had was when games were coming left right and centre and we only really starting rotating heavily when we made the play offs and knew we could the 2-2 against airdrie wasn’t as bad of a team as people are letting on and we still picked up a point and also got really close to winning it in the end

That`s a fair point, LA. In his latest bulletin NL is saying that both Olly and Freddie will probably not be match fit until after the international break because they missed out on pre-season training.

According to Pars website, when he signed it says, `Thomas now returns fully recovered and looking to pick up where he left off.`

That misled me into thinking he was fit. Clearly he wasn`t `fully recovered` as NL says from the latest preview v QP:

`Olly Thomas and Freddie are the only two absentees from the squad now just through long-term injury.`

Which bulletin do you mean Wee Eck?

Here`s the bit from the Courier -
Meanwhile, Lennon admits Olly Thomas and Freddie Turley may not be seen in action for another month. Both had loans spells at Dunfermline cut short because of injuries in the second half of last season. Turley has since returned to the Pars on loan from Derby County and Thomas has penned an initial one-year deal in a permanent switch from Bristol City. However, Turley has not played since April because of an ankle issue and Thomas has spent a month longer on the sidelines following surgery on his thigh. The pair have been given extra conditioning work to restore them to the required fitness, and Lennon has revealed they are still some way short of where they need to be.

“You’ll not see Olly until after the international break,” added Lennon. “He had an injury, so this week he’s doing a bit of conditioning work, and it’ll be the same again next week. And then the break comes up after the Morton game. That’ll give us another couple of weeks to get him really well conditioned and robust enough to be a part of the squad. I don’t know how much he’s done pre-season, so he’s just in assessment mode at the minute and he’s doing conditioning work. I don’t want to rush him. The last thing I want is to bring him back and then injure him again. He looks in reasonable condition when you look at him, but he’s still got a bit of work to do yet.”

Lennon added: “Freddie will be a while. He’ll probably be in the same boat as Olly It’s a question of just wrapping him up and keeping him out of the way for a few weeks, just to build him up cardiovascular-wise and physically.”

I’d disagree with that. Having any real strength in depth didn’t help, but when you see where we finished, you can’t really say it cost us.

This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it.

Dunfermline Athletic Football Club is delighted to confirm that three players have been called up to the Scotland U21 National Team for their upcoming UEFA European Under-21 Championship Qualifiers.

Andy Tod, Dylan Lobban – on-loan from Aberdeen – and Sam Cleall-Harding – on-loan from Dundee United – have all been named in Tony Docherty`s first squad, since he took over from Scot Gemmill, for two Group B fixtures in the U21 EURO Qualification campaign.

Scotland U21s will host Azerbaijan in their final home group game (Wed 30 Sept 5 pm Kilmarnock) before travelling to Bulgaria (Tuesday 6 Oct 5 pm).

J Tod only turned 19 in May so I presume he still qualifies for the under 19s as it`s usually based on aged at the startb of the calendar year. I think he must be injured.

Alfons Amade could start for Mozambique this afternoon against Senegal (2 pm ko). That`ll be a tough one I think.

Think he is over age. He was born May 2007 and the under 19s are those born 2008 or later.

From SFA --

`Scotland`s new Under-19 Head Coach Tam Courts has named his first Under-19 squad ahead of a series of friendlies in Alicante where they will face Finland on September 24, Czechia on September 27 and Ukraine on September 30.

This camp will represent the first meet-up for this Under-19 side, with players all to be born in 2008 or later.`

Players born in 2007 may still qualify for the competitive matches for qualification for the European championships which resume later this year.

Attracting talented players to the club certainly has its drawbacks. As well as causing a backlog of fixtures these postponements can also lead to a loss of revenue if a home match has to be re-scheduled to midweek.

I wonder if our 3 x Scotland U21s and Shea Kearney might not have a game that November weekend unless friendlies are arranged?

The final match of the European championship u21 group stage qualifying will be tomorrow and the playoff games for it are around that weekend in November. Us and N.ireland are out already sadly.

Ah true so we might only be 2 players short. Is the minimum 3 to request a postponement? Was 3 in the old Champ Man days...

There are Afcon qualification games that weekend so we will almost certainly be without Amade and Oyirwoth.

I hope the game is on but it seems unlikely sadly.
