Who does everyone fancy? My main bet will be Hatton. Easily won the Dunhill past couple of years so has good course history. Molinari is in good form so I'll probably have small bets on him and Noren.

Throughout the last year I've had 4 small each-way ante-post bets as I thought they were overpriced at the time. Hatton @ 66/1, Tiger Woods @ 125/1, Noren @ 50/1 & Fleetwood(course record holder) @25/1-so a couple similar to you.

The only thing with Hatton is he missed the cut in all 4 of the majors last year and in 5 of the 6 British Opens he has competed in so can he do it on the big stage? Seems to lose the head a bit too.

I've been reading up a bit on course form and most places say ignore Alfred Dunhill form as they set up the course favourably because the amateurs are playing in that and there is no rough and the pins are in the easiest positions.

With improved terms now on offer I've had a bet on Justin Rose today.

Outsider- Ryan Fox 150/1 -2nd and 6th at Irish and Scottish Opens.

It's a bit of a lottery tbh but good luck!

Yeah Hatton is inclined to blow up quite a bit but if he keeps his emotions in check I think he has a real chance. Was surprised to Alex Levy out at something ridiculous 200/1 or something. Probably chuck a quid each way on him.

Have been doing some of the infrastructure setup through my work recently and have seen some of the aerial photos over the last few days.......it has been absolutely frazzled with the weather, something like two days of rain in the last three or four weeks; you wouldn't realise there was a golf course there if it wasn't for all the grandstands and folk mulling around.

Unless there is a severe change in weather, wind or otherwise, you are looking at another 30-50 yards on tee shots even for the guys who are teeny weeney hitters. Will be a lot irons off the tee and bump and runs on 2nd/3rd shots even by Open standards.

Went E/W on Tyrell Hatton, Zach Johnson and Branden Grace and a wee side bet on Eddie Pep first round leader at 100/1 (purely as the early starters always seem to post the big numbers on the first day and he's off just after 7am)

Don't be suckered in too much by how folk do at the Dunhill. It's a glorified ProAm so the course is setup with a strong leaning towards the 'celebrities' and amateurs; if it's not windy round there folk will shoot sub-65 without much hassle albeit Carnoustie is still the hardest out of the the three courses it runs across.

Edit: Just noticed paratletic already mentioned that, apologies sir!

No probs TAFKA some good insight and always good to hear when someone has the same view. To emphasise your point about driving Brandt Snedeker, who is only 137th in PGA Tour average driving distances, put up on Twitter that he had driven 427 yards on the 18th in practice.

extremely tough to predict. The winner is going to need some luck to avoid bad bounces

I've split my stake amongst a number of players and hope to make a profit. all each way and 10 places

Mickelson
Garcia
Grace
Leishman
Molinari
Noren
Hatton
Schauffele

Course management is going to be crucial from the tee. The greens will be fairly receptive, so an opportunity to fly second or third shots all the way, but you will need to be in good position on the fairways.
It's essential that selections are good bunker players as no doubt, they will be in them

Looking forward to it

Yeah. Had fancied him all year to win and he's blown up already. I'm up at the Open all week. It's absolutely terrific.

Backed Finau ew in play at 33/1. Backed him loads of times before and he has always fallen short-couldn't stand the thought of him coming up trumps this time without me backing him.

Quite happy to still have Rory, Noren and Molinari going into the final day. Would rather they were in Spieth's position though.

A few of us are still in the mix with big priced selections(3 of my 4 ante-posts tied in 6th) My 2 other bets (Finau and Rose) in 13th with a small chance of making the top 10-good luck everyone. Exciting day ahead.

Well done guys some nice wins. I hit the crossbar a wee bit-thought for about 5 minutes that Tiger was going to pull it off for me. My main bet was Rose so at least I got some each way money. Molinari has been in superb form-deserved winner. I see Bernard Langer finished 24th-not bad for a 60 year old.

Well done petrie p I did see £1200 float in front of me with 2 to play but Think Xander lacked wee bit experience at that level He did well tho
How does the place betting work ?
Because there is a 4 way tie for second do i still get fifth odds which will be £200 ? Or will it be filtered down accordingly ?

Molinari is almost like a robot programmed to hit fairways and greens, always been solid in that respect.

Delighted for him, really nice guy and i think that is him two wins and three top tens in his last five events. Red hot!
