Hello pb

Posted as a wee bit light relief from the ongoing saga
Can you believe some of the nonsense that was published ?
Most of it made me laugh some great stuff there tho and I'm all in favour of banning noisy toys ... or is that just a grumpy auld grandad ?

Sadly, not everyone is as intelligent and discerning as yourself, Mr Grumpy. 😃

I think it's highly likely that a significant number of voters were taken in and/or irritated by at least some of those headlines. There's no doubt putting something in print increases its credibility among a cross section of the population. The Sun has one of the largest circulations. It has a reading age of 9. The high end papers have a reading age of 13, which puts them beyond a significant proportion of the adult population. Maybe some of you think I'm exaggerating?

I can't be bothered trolling through the threads but one poster on here recently commented that he/she would be glad when we finally leave the EU and their silly rules like how curved bananas should be. I rest my case, m'lud.

Not your average Sunday League player.

G.G. unfortunately most were taken in by the false news It was all part of the beginnings of the serial liar Boris who specialised in anti EU propaganda through columns in his media friends publications until they realised how much of a Walter Mitty he was and sacked him

Step in Dominic ..... who after returning from Russia saw an ideal grooming opportunity ..... the bumbling brains in his c*ck Boris ..... and hey presto we are where we are today

Dominic Cummings is running this Government not Boris and thank goodness most of parliament realise it

These stories have been running continuously for over 40 years. Most of them are clearly misleading, exaggerated or taken wildly out of context. Quite a few will simply be untrue.

They represent a planned attack on the institution that is the EU and were being published back in the days of The Common Market, just in case some brexiteer claims he only became thus after the creation of a ‘United Sates of Europe.’ On which note imagine, if you can, that for the last 40 years sections of the UK media regularly carried distorted news which was unfailingly sneering or dismissive of the United States of America.

A free Press is a requirement of a healthy democracy so no one is keen to regulate what is published. Nonetheless there are basic standards which must be upheld in relation to food that is sold or most consumer items and these should apply to journalism. Similarly a journalist- the same as a doctor, lawyer or teacher in their own fields- should be answerable for their actions and where extreme malpractice is proved, forfeit their licence.

Sammer step back and read that

A journalist, an ambulance chaser, a scoop searcher, irrespective of how much harm or damage he causes to the recipient is hardly a doctor, lawyer or teacher who try through their teachings and study's to help others but the journalist only has his own interests in pound notes Yes they should be answerable but they are in never never land and the Doctors Teachers and lawyers are in the real world

As always it's all about the money, who has it control's everything.
Five individuals or corporations have control of the MSM and there's no one as guilable as the poor, myself included.
I actually believed what was printed in the papers upto the second week in September 2014, stopped buying them then, unbelievably I've probably saved myself £2500.00.

The National is surely the biggest seller now. Even if just one in five of those quarter million marchers dipped into their sporrans they would walk it.

Your maths is a bit rubbish. That only makes 50k readers. The daily record shifts over 100k per day. The Scottish sun slightly more. Not seen any figures for the National but doubt if it's anywhere near these.

Fair enough. Should have included the other quarter of a million who cheered them on.

The National sells less than 10k. The Dunfermline Press sells more (albeit it's a weekly rather than daily).

I'm just happy the Buspasspar put an empty line or two in the middle of that list, so that I could get my breath back.

Cucumbers, bananas, rhubarb, firemen’s poles..this reeks of phallicism.

Do you do a fertility jig round your totem pole every night or just as and when required?
