Just been announced the 'R' rate is likely to have risen above 1.
Not listening to the science. Moore lives are going to be lost.
When u look at the farce of track and trace 25000 people employed to work on this and just over 30,000 people contacted. Boris said it will be a world beating system, yup I agree he is planning to wipe out a loot of the uk population.

I'm guessing this is mostly in England? Was always going to happen though, Brits are some of the thickest idiots I've ever met around the world.

Whatever happens now, I don't think folk will accept another lockdown. You can see by the number of people out and about and traffic is almost back to normal.
They've had enough.
Not your average Sunday League player.

Scotland now has one of the lowest (possibly THE lowest) R values of any UK nation or region at 0.6-0.8
Wales 0.7-1
Northern Ireland 0.5-0.9

Are we sure this isn't just a journalist misinterpreting the figures?

I disagree. I think we should be doing regionalised or localised lockdowns though. I think folks will put up with it if there is a lot of transmission locally.

Coronavirus R number may have risen above 1 in parts of England, govt says
Officials say the estimates are less robust and less useful in determining the state of the epidemic as there are now fewer cases.

Thanks Thaipar.
The Government is saying "may have" risen above 1. I assume they are talking about the figure for the SW of England - the range quoted is 0.8 - 1.1
I assume that is some sort of confidence interval around a central estimate. So it may be probable that the R number is still less than 1.
(I know there have been stories about problems with data from a Taunton hospital, I've no idea of the truth of that).
If the number of infections is low, then the track trace and isolate system is designed to isolate potential cases, so there may be no need for a regional lock-down.

In all honesty do you think the government would want to admit to a rate above 1?
The fact this came from the government would indicate that it is over 1,otherwise they would be denying the quoted figure.

These figures won't be known for a couple of weeks.

True enough. BLM appears to be a nice distraction from the deaths, failing economy and dogs dinner of an "oven ready" Brexit agreement.
