What a rancid bitter website that is. Got one sentence into that article and then closed it.

And although my eyes were open
They just might as well be closed

When he started sharing links to websites claiming Transgender people were mentally ill I decided I was never going to bother with anything he wrote ever again.

A few years ago, that used to be a decent blog, but the writer seems a bit unhinged now. It's actually really bleak and hateful writing these days. Not sure what has happened to him but he is actually doing more harm than good to the independence cause. I suspect he has taken a bag of silver and has switched sides in an effort to derail and split the independence effort from the inside.

The tone of Wings Over Scotland is certainly unpleasant, but so has been the sour faced acceptance of Salmond’s trial verdict by the SNP.

Maybe a lesson from history here. In the early 1930s the ruling party in Germany were the Social Democrats who had held power since after WW1. Their competitor for the workers’ vote was the Communist Party and they spent rather too much time launching attacks on each other than was good for the country. By 1933 their combined share of the vote remained higher than the Nazi Party’s so they scoffed when Hitler was asked to form a government. Within three months, most of the leading politicians of the Left had either been arrested or had fled the country.

After that debacle a ‘Popular Front’ policy was adopted across Europe to halt fascism but it was too late in the day. If the Sturgeon and Salmond factions within the independence movement cannot reconcile their differences then there will be no independence.

The leader of the Independence Movement is Nicola Sturgeon, it all falls on her and her actions. The comments she's made about A.S. since the formation of the ALBA Party are disgusting and the Movement is definitely split .

If the Alba Party starts to campaign for seats in by-elections and Local government elections and build up support then we've got interesting times ahead.

Did she point out that the civil service were that concerned about AS that they told women not to work alone with him at night?

Don't look at the link if you're of a sensitive disposition.

The blame game has started....nothing to do with Wee Eck apparently.

Hopefully this works a bit better as it's a better tracker of what the polls are showing than whichever one is being cherry picked to try and make a point. It's the poll tracker MCT couldn't access but hopefully the Google link allows it to work.

If Salmond was so popular ALBA would be polling significantly higher numbers. At the moment it's 6% tops and the average is 3%.

If we're making these kind of comparisons though Wings itself requested a poll on whether people would vote for a party lead by AS and at the time 50% said they wouldn't in July last year.

https://wingsoverscotland.com/the-cat-and-all-the-pigeons/

Fast forward 8 or 9 months and we're back at the latest polling that shows 79% of people won't back an AS led party.

https://cdn.survation.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/23094326/Survation-DC-Thomson-Scotland-Survey-April-2021-Data-Tables-1.xlsx

So in less than a year AS has managed to turn just under 60% of the people in Scotland that would have voted for him against him. That doesn't look like a particularly successful year. I'm sure Wings will have detailed analysis on how AS has failed coming shortly.

But the accusation is the polls are showing a dip for independence, that's nothing to do with A.S. the Alba party was only launched 5 weeks ago today. And they've been denied a platform to get their viewpoint over other than the one 5 minute party broadcast.

Not that I'm complaining as everything eventually comes home to roost.

Heard from an ex SNP colleague that the most they're expecting is a 55% turnout. Just as well we'll not be having a S30 in the next parliament.

I'm not clicking on any of the WOS stuff as my experience in the past is that it's ill-informed drivel.

My perception here is there's a divide between those who want a referendum asap and those who want to wait until after the COVID recovery.

I'd expect there are similar arguments happening within the SNP itself.

I'm always honest that I'm happy to be swayed either way on the independence debate. I'm broadly in favour of independence but my personal view is that a clear case needs to be made for it with clear answers on pensions, currency, economic development - even if some of those answers aren't what people want to hear.

That will be the most visited Independence blogger , more visits than all other Independence blogs put together.

Regarding para3, no there's no debate, members do as their told , there's Nic's way or the high way.
Go research the recent history of the SNPs NEC , would suggest the starting point be the WoS site but there's other info out there also.

Most visited doesn't mean most accurate.

Kevin Hague is the most popular unionist blogger. He's also a total [insert your own word]
