Seems that all the missiles were intercepted. Little if to no damage and no casualties. Iran are spinning it to their own people as a victorious strike so if that`s what they need to say hopefully the US allows them to have this and the situation can deescalate.

The likes of Kuenssberg is doing none of us any favours saying that politics is more important that anything. It avoids proper scrutiny in terms of facts in many cases in my opinion.
Unfortunately the lack of a credible opposition in the US is generating massive issues right around the globe.

If we are using the Dow Jones average as a barometer for the health of the US economy (which we shouldn`t be) then it was higher on Biden`s last day in office than it is today. Let`s just see if the US can avoid slipping into a recession before the end of the summer. I hope it does as it`ll be detrimental to me and most folks reading this if so but I have my doubts.

Too right. I`d struggle to bring myself to fight for britain at the best of times, far less when they are supporting Israel in bringing genocide to Gaza, and starting wars with most of the region.
It`ll certainly be interesting If we do go into an unjust war against a country that has done us no harm. Would we find that some people here would fight against britain from the inside

I had to laugh at the "disguised" warship story as the Royal Navy have been at this for years.
AIS (automatic identification system) is fitted to all ships and is routinely "manipulated" to mask a ships true identity and position by all navies of the world .

To be fair the article does have a naval expert saying that all navies do this from time to time. I suppose the more pertinent question is if they do it while passing through one of the worlds busiest water ways while escorting a couple of oil tankers which are likely inadequately, if at all, insured.

Their extensive support for Asad in Syria was crucial until 2022 - then it all backfired on them when his evil regime was overthrown.

Well I didn`t get a chance to look into in more detail but I read that economic data released yesterday made for gloomy reading. The US economy had contracted by 0.5% in the first three months of the year and that`s from a period before the tariff fiasco which will have undoubtedly dampened economic activity.

Yes, the introduction of the tariffs caused the contractions.
They have brought in 88 Billion to date.

No the contraction was in the first quarter, January, February and March. The tarriffs were famously announced in the Rose Garden on April 2nd. I dare say the tarriffs, aka tax, that has been paid by American consumers will have brought some cash into the federal government but if they cause further shrinkage of the US economy in Q2 then that will cost far more than £88 billion.

You`re conflating the stock market with the economy. The threat of tarriffs did indeed spook the stock markets (they`ve largely recovered now after they forced Trump to about turn) but the economy in general is sputtering for other reasons. I will grant you that one of the reasons for the GDP contraction is connected to the tarriffs as it saw savvy logistical managers stock up at the start of the year to help cushion the potential blow. That surge in imports along with a slight dip in exports had a negative effect on the economic output numbers. That should balance out during the coming months but of more concern is how much the American consumer is spending at the end point of the supply line. It is still reasonably robust but has taken a not insignificant dip from this time last year. How much that import surge from pre April is protecting spenders from shortages and price hikes remain to be seen.

Israel will be replenishing depleted stock of all types of expended munitions, from small arms upwards - standard practice in all militaries during times of conflict........no surprise there, likewise Iran will be engaged in a similar exercise.

The primary source is Al Arabiya, the Saudi newsgroup. They say Israel is gearing up for a major second wave of heavy strikes. Other news sources point to the fact that an Israeli court on Sunday postponed Netanyahu`s testimony in a corruption trial after he requested a delay of two weeks owing to "security issues" with Iran and Gaza.
