I often get `bad error` messages when I`m on dafc.net. I can sort it by clearing my posting history but it is now happening daily and is becoming tiresome. It doesn`t happen when I visit any other websites and it happens on my laptop and also my phone.
Is it coincidence that this happens only on .net? If not, what can be done to stop it happening?

The full message says `Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand. Size of a request header field exceeds server limit`. Does anyone know what this means and how to fix it?

How do I do that, brian? Isn`t it taken care of when I clear the browsing history?

It`s happened three times already this morning, brian. If it only happens when I`m connected to dafc.net doesn`t that suggest it`s a problem with the site?

I don`t know enough about cache and history clearing.
well, yes it may be the way the data is stored in history.
strange that its happening on laptop and phone.
can you change broswer to to see if any different
not heard anybody else having an issue, I don`t see any problems, I have on the very odd occassion had some error but clearing cookies seemed to sort it (happened more than a month ago for me just the once)

Yeah I have often had this error on this site. I don`t do anything and it stops happening and then a short time later it will start again. Only appears to do it when I`m using chrome on a mobile device. When it does it I then switch the DuckDuckGo mobile browser and I have no problems.
And although my eyes were open
They just might as well be closed

Wee Eck, use incognito mode. I think it must have something to do with third party cookies.

That was well-timed, TOWK. I was just about to post another plea for help as I`m now getting as many messages on bing as I was on Chrome. I`ll do as you suggest. I can`t believe we`re the only two with this problem.

So far so good for me with incognito. Might be because of the settings regarding cookies I have on chrome browser incognito.
I`m also wondering if maybe it had something to with the size of the ads on the site. Since the ads change everytime you view a page perhaps that is why this issue is intermittent?

May or may not suit you, but the mobile app (Android or iOS) is another alternative to accessing the forum. It’s on Android under “DAFC.net Forum” and iOS as “DAFC.net Forum 2”.

I`m not sure what is causing. I do think it`s a cache issue.

Brian, it`s probably something to do with the "phorum-haveread-dafc" cookie, which presumably can get rather large as it builds up the index of posts that have been viewed? I`m sure clearning the browser cache will solve the issue for any end user that sees this issue, but the server-side fix is likely something to do with preventing that cookie value from increasing too much.
