 iPad problem
Topic Originator: veteraneastender

Whenever I opened any .net forum it went to page 2 of the thread and would not allow page 1.

This after a recent IOS update.

I deleted the app and switched off the device (iPad Air 4) - followed by a forced restart and reload of the app.

Problem partially sorted - forums open OK, but won`t load images where inserted on the message.

Also, I can`t reply to messages etc.

Looks like I need to login to open - need a new login please.

Hi VEE, can I ask what version of iOS you are running on your iPad? And, which version of the app you have installed (you can get that from the About page within the app).

Whilst I haven`t written the app for the iPad, nor have I tested it, I have just now tested it on an iPad Air 5th Generation simulator, running iOS 15.5, and it is working perfectly. If you have an older iOS version (14, for example), then there`s not much I can do, as I am no longer supporting the older version of the iOS app, as it is a complete pain the way it was developed. The only other advice would be to simply access the web site on your browser on your iPad, but clearly the app would give a better experience.

Strange one. I can’t reproduce the issue in the simulator, and it is working fine on our iPad (iPad Pro, 3rd Generation with the latest iOS version, 15.6.1).

Have you tried deleting the app completely from your iPad and reinstalling it?

Hi Milos - I have deleted and reloaded the app twice - still same issues.

I reckon a new password is the way forward ?

VEE - You`ll certainly need a new password to log into the site on any device.

The issue with the iPad sounds like a bug of sorts, perhaps only for that model of iPad (hopefully there are other folks out there with that exact model / iOS version combination, who can let us know here if you have any issues or not). My problem is that I can`t reproduce the issue, which makes it a lot more difficult to troubleshoot it! I`ll see if I can "think it through", but I`m not holding out much hope. In the meantime, on your iPad you will need to access the forum using the web browser.

Milos - I found my existing password and was able to login.

I’ll need to see if problem is fully sorted - watch this space.

Thanks for your guidance.

Just to add that I see there is another update to iOS today (available on the iPhone, anyway, not sure about the table). May be worth a pop upgrading to that, or even to iOS 16, which also appears to be available now!

Some images not appearing on messages - a small window opens with notice.

“Image failed to load
Tap to open in browser”

Sortable ?

Which thread has the images that aren’t showing?

Also, did you update to iOS 16, or 15.7?

IOS 15.7

I’d need to look through messages for that image notice.

Before I upgraded IOS, it wanted me to login to Image Shack to see them - I’ve never used it.

Should I register ?

Re: the images, I presume you had tapped the image, and it then opened up a browser to ImageShack? But you shouldn’t need to log in to view images that folks have hosted there, and then liked to them on their post. I’m assuming that you are getting most images displaying fine though?

Also, are you still getting the issue where a thread opens up to page 2, and you can’t navigate back?

The vast majority of images open fine, just the odd few won`t.

The page 2 problem has not arisen since IOS 15.7.

That`s great to hear that iOS 15.7 has solved the paging problem :-)

As for the images, it could be that the image has since been removed from ImageShack, or unavailable for some other reason, hence the app can`t download them, and is forced to put up that message (with a "last-resort" option to tap to open up the original image). I suspect the images you can`t see will be the same for everyone.
