 Barber recommendations
Topic Originator: Raymie the Legend
Date:   Mon 4 Jun 13:57

I'm looking for a good, consistent gent's hairdresser, in other words, I'd like the same person to cut my hair or at least get the same haircut.
Sounds easy but it's really not that easy. Give the same instruction to 10 folk and you get 10 different haircuts

Not sure what the girl is like in Bruce Street or the one next to the 7 Kings on the corner for example

Suggestions, advice welcome

Maybe just saying 'i want to look like action man' isn't descriptive enough? 😉

Seriously though I was just complaining about this last week, I also get something different every time

Turkish Barbers at Hospital Hill is where I tend to go, look after you well enough and never had any complaints.

Manuds, down near the Glen gates. Consistent haircuts from the 3 staff.

used to go to Manud but I kept getting different haircuts. It's like Russian Roulette when there is more than one barber in a shop

Hmmmm (idea for a new reality show)....
Russian roulette hair cuts.
4 contestants have to guess which barber will cut their hair as normal and sit in that barbers chair...
I could say more but I'd be giving the game away.... I'm off to phone Channel 4.😂

Old Town Barber Club at Maygate is always good although may need to book a bit in advance. Seen a few Pars players getting their hair cuts in there at the same time I've been in. Failing that, Lime Street Salon is always a good shout (just up from City Hotel).

I've used Ryan in David Grays, Douglas St, for more years than I can remember and he always gives me a hair cut which makes me look 10 years younger - allegedly. Doesn't even have to ask what I want.....

I have the exact same problem as Raymie. Manouds don’t ever do what I want either and it’s a pricy bad haircut. The Turkish guys are sound but I have a feeling they weren’t hairdressers before they came here.

I go to the same woman in Solo. I know it's not a barbers but I get the same cut, not rushed and it's only £10.

Barbers in the toon are awful. You are much better off going to Ann at Color (sic). 24 years I've been going to her and she knows her onions

Not been to a barber in years.
Been getting the same 2 girls in Exclusive on Robbie Road for over a decade now and at £8 a pop I'm happy.

Rosyth Palace barber shop back in the Swingin’ Sixties,14 years old desperately trying to hang to my Beatle style mop.

Mr Thompson was the scissors wizard if memory serves well.
“What you having son?”
“Oh just a wee trim”
“Whose paying”
“My Mum”
“And what did she say?”
“Short”
Buzz, chop, snip....

Still use the place sometimes, but as all I ever get is No3 back and sides, No4 top, No2 eyebrows, and lugs tidied up - anywhere will do.

Surely the best way to ensure you get the same hair cut every time is to find someone who ticks all the boxes and then stick with him/her?

Before Ryan, James cut my hair for about 20 years before he left to pursue a different career.

In Gray's you can specify who you're waiting on. It's no skin off the other barbers noses as there's usually a queue. Just means waiting longer. I find all the girls to be really good in the New Row.

I think I'll give Antonio a shot? He's open until 7pm on a Thursday, which is handy

Popped into Antonio's in Inverkeithing. Fastest barber I've ever seen, akin to Edward Scissorhands.
Decent enough cut and will go back

In the spirit of experimentation I have booked an appointment at the old town barber club. Hope Manud doesn't find out... :)

Well haircut fans, I tried the barber club but was unimpressed. Nice premises, but very uneven haircut. Back to manuds this morning and a much better and cheaper haircut.

Any of the two lassies across from Central Park turn in on Cowden High St. A laugh a minute and under a fiver.
