Shortage of CO2 affecting beer supplies.

Some other old timers might remember that Aussie lament Pub with no Beer.
Bringing on a thirst just thinking about it.

“The Pub With No Beer” - Slim Dusty, popular Australian singer.

How did they draw beer before CO2 ?

You don't need CO2 to get fizz in your beer. Can be naturally carbonated if you're brewing properly.

“The Pub With No Beer” - Slim Dusty, popular Australian singer.

The original 1957 - first Aussie song to go Gold.

Or you might prefer Ronnie Drew's throaty version

VEE you will recall Children’s Favourites with Uncle Mac on steam radio. Sat mornings about 60 years ago

This song was often given a spin, as were other cheerful ditties like The Ugly Duckling, I know an old Woman who swallowed a fly, There’s a hole in the Bucket, other novelty nonsense, plus Frankie Lane western movie themes, etc.
And of course The Teddy Bears’ picnic, featuring the immortal line “ If you go down to the woods today you’re sure of a big surprise”

And from rumours which went the rounds after he left, if you went down to the woods with Unlcle M you certainly would be..

Never did.

If memory serves it was Rolf Harris singing PWNB that I mind of, early 1960s after he came over from Aus.

He also did “ Tie Me Kangaroo Down” and some others which escape me.

I’d never heard of Slim Dusty until relatively recently.

It was almost invariably Radio Luxembourg that I listened to in them days, some BBC Light programme on a Sunday afternoon - The Clitheroe Kid, The Goons, Round The Horn and The Navy Lark etc.

There was a fella on Radio Lux called Horace Batchelor who advertised his winning formula for the football pools. My dad used to ask why he was on the radio if he had the drop on Littlewoods, rather than being a tax exile in the Bahamas !!!

Apparently ran out of gas and sent the animals south to near Manchester.

Good advert for the environmentalists.
