I couldn't sleep last night, so I watched a documentary about Clapton on BBC2, It was called "Eric Clapton life in 12 bars ".
Anyone else seen it? If not it is definitely worth a look

East End Park is a symbol of all that is DAFC.

He'd never make it these days.

And although my eyes were open
They just might as well be closed

The BBC made a documentary about me once called "AWP a life in 12,156,273 bars and counting"... for some strange reason, it never passed the censors and was shelved... disappointing...

Saw most of it and thought it was excellent. Had to record the last 45 mins as I wussed out and went to bed so still to watch it but the insights were really interesting.

Watching on catch up just now, very interesting taking me back to the sixties, missed Cream at the Ballroom just a year too young. A guy called Alan Darby, who came from Rosyth brought Clapton out of his drugs hell. I thought Peter Green was way better and Hendrix left him for dead, good programme otherwise.

Wasn't Alan Darby also a very accomplished guitarist?
Think I've got some stuff of his somewhere... Or maybe it's another guy with the same name.

He played in Chain Reaction with Kip Mcbay, the director of The Pars. I think he is mentioned in Clapton's autobiography. Last I heard he was a musical director in London's West end, the Queen musical was his main accolade.
He was from Rosyth, went to Kings Road Secondary and lived across the road from the Tesco supermarket.
