Ferry Toll Park n' Ride- advice please
Topic Originator: veteraneastender

Planning to leave the wheels at FT in a few weeks time and get the 747 coach to the airport.

Used it a couple of years ago before the Queensferry Crossing was in service - is it easy enough to get there by car, now that private vehicles are banned from using the "old" Forth Road Bridge.

Anything I should be aware of ?

No problems at all.We use it quite often and the bus runs through the night now.Admittedly a bit of a pain if you just miss the 2.20 bus as that is the one with a ninety minute wait.

What do you mean by problems due to the old bridge being bus only? The roundabout at Ferry Toll connects to the M90 Northbound, the M90 Southbound, the Old Bridge, Inverkeithing and Rosyth/North Queensferry. Where are you coming from?

Aye Kelty, it was access I was referring to, apologies if that wasn’t clear.

Coming from Kincardine, along the main drag into Rosyth.

Just follow the previous route as if joining the motorway to cross the Forth Road Bridge ?

Ignore directions for Queensferry Crossing presumably ?

Do you have to tell them that you are leaving your car? Had to fill in form at Halbeath P&R for 3 days parking, also Ferrytoll only doing more than a week?

No forms to fill in and we were able to leave car for two weeks in June.

I heard Fife Council are to introduce a daily charge for both Ferry Toll and Halbeath Park & Rides. I take it it's not in operation yet?

Fife councillors have just agreed to scrap a daily £1 parking charge at Ferrytoll and Halbeath Park&Ride. Charges will no longer go ahead thanks to an agreement between Fife Council and Stagecoach East Scotland.

I think the charges were like putting a gun to stagecoach head. Charges weren't in their interests. Councillors knew this and so knew Stagecoach would put more in. Rightly so. They're the biggest benifitionaries of the park and rides.

Cheers. Saw this in the "Press", after I posted. Good move as it will help to keep cars out of Edinburgh and keep costs down for regular commuters.

"Depending on where you are Halbeath Park and ride is another option."

Alloa - so it's six of one and half a dozen of the other really, we'd used Ferry Toll before so I thought to do so again. Might look at Halbeath though.

I didn't realise a parking charge had been imposed - there was none when we used it previously. Glad to hear it has been removed since.

From what I mind the waiting room was closed during the night, and the car park was locked between certain times - so if you need your vehicle during those hours you had to call an "emergency" number to organise access, and there would be a charge for this service.

Here is current information.

I was sure that long-term parking at Halbeath was not allowed, you had to go to Ferrytoll. It used to be the other way round, the gate locking could be down to visits from the travelling community.
