Anyone on here work for Sky?

Does anyone on here work for Sky?
received a letter from EE stating that someone from my address has requested that EE take over my phone line. I live alone and I didn’t contact EE.
I also had a letter from Sky stating that EE had contacted them to take over my phone line next week so they were going to cut off my phone and internet connection.
I’ve tried ringing Sky but they are doing training so waiting times were 40+ minutes. Then I was cut off!
Does this sound like a scam?
Would appreciate any help, thank you.

Work for BT but the standard practice is to notify you if there has been a request to take over the line. Just call sky up and they should be able to stop the takeover or confirm if its a legitimate letter or not

A call to EE is needed as well.

It takes two to tango in this type of scenario.

Rastapari, no, I’ve been with Sky for 2 years now and I’ve suddenly started getting mail that someone from my address requested EE to take over my phone line. It’s a blatant lie.
Do companies share information about this?
In 2016 I was turned down by EE as I had a poor credit rating.(so much for paying cash for everything)So I went for Sky, got it no problem. EE were very unhelpful then and when I rang them on Friday they were very unhelpful again, no way I’d go for EE after this palava.

Advise Sky you are not moving.. whoever the EE order is for will fail.
There is a couple of ways this can happen to be fair, not necessarily someone at it, they could have given the wrong number...

as rasta says it can happen pretty ambiguously. If you live at 14 for example and someone at 41 is placing order with EE a slight typo would mean it was processed for your address. Can be pretty common with blocks of flats etc where it's doornumber and then A/B/C.

I work for sky but due to GDPR and the nature of the enquiry you do need to call in to have the request to transfer services stopped.

I have been known to do a wee bit ad hoc publicity work for The Sky Fairy. Does that count?

One of the most effective cons is independent dealers calling and saying. Im the Vodafone rep or whatever. What they mean is they are the staff member tasked to target vodafone customers.
You think you are dealing with your company and the set you up with a new deal. Someone tried me with this when I had The Fountain. Said they were the BT rep. I nearly cancelled a brand new 2 year contract which I would have had to pay in addition to the scam setup. Fortunately I twigged before verbally agreeing.
