I've a friend who teaches in Germany. She wants to bring 20 kids over to Scotland for a cultural visit, next April/May. They will be accompanied by 2 or 3 adults. They'd like to stay in or around Dunfermline, so they can use me as an extremely cheap tour guide....😃
Any advice on reasonably cheap and cheerful accommodation, which would include breakfast? I thought about the Premier Inn across from Halbeath ASDA, but not sure if they're all that cheap.

When I had to come up at short notice last year, the hotels in Glenrothes were cheapest.
Or what about the place in North Queensferry.
Not answering your question at all, but there you go!

I should have mentioned that they want to spend a day or two in a local high school. I've got good contacts in Woodmill and St Columba's, both of which are in Dunfermline, tractor boy, but thanks for your effort. 😃

King Malcolm certainly tends to be popular with the "coach load" of overseas bus tourists

Hope this isn't patronising but most hotels want you to email them for groups of that size and you might be able to negotiate a better rate than the published rates to the public.
King Malcolm is basic but cheap and probably the most likely to have the number of rooms you need.
The hotel at the Weatherspoons was surprisingly good value for money and if they had enough rooms would be great location wise if you can keep the kids out the pub.
Premier Inn
Travelodge
Holiday Inn are obviously all a little bit out of the centre but would probably be most likely to have the number of rooms needed.
Haven't stayed in them so can't vouch for quality but if they've been kitted out in the last few years the Premier Inns and Travelodges I've stayed in elsewhere have made a decent stab on the budget end.

Recently had an overnight at Travelodge Halbeath, comfy, cliean and cheap.
Close to the chippy at Halbeath if they want to sample basic local fare 😀😀

Have emailed all the places folk have suggested and now awaiting replies. Holiday Inn Express at Halbeath told me their already fully booked in late April and all of May.
