Looking for a minibus to ferry a party of 16, plus luggage, from Edinburgh airport to Holiday Inn Halbeath and return, next April. Any recommendations much appreciated.
Expect Parrot to be all over this like a rash, within the next 5 mins..... :-)

Not in the slightest GG... I can't speak for wee eck (nor Fat Boab or Soapy Soutar), but I've spent many a memorable occasion in Halbeath, I think...
I used to practice with the band up that way, in a cold, archaic former railway junction box...
Happily, it was about 100 yards from Armando's Hideaway, a splendid establishment which was deservedly popular and was cool enough to cater to starving musicians like myself who were utterly ganting on a pint at nine o'clock on a Tuesday evening...
Following the throat lubrication session (an essential recovery process for many musicians), we would normally weave our way toward the chip shop in Halbeath, whose name escapes me, but was utterly brilliant...
Dripping with grease, broon sauce, with salt crystals dangling gently from the end of our frozen noses, we boarded the charmingly minging bus, all the while ignoring the singularly honking stench of beer and fags, to which, of course, we were simply adding our own personal contributions...
What freaked me out when I came back after an absence of 25 years, was how much that area has changed..
Different times I suppose... anyway, sorry for rambling, I think I need a taxi...

Email sent to Will Travel with one elle, Parrot. Being a Pars fan puts him in pole position right away, unless he's outrageously more expensive than his competitors.
I got Lester thanks and he's coming. Fancy coming along as his buddy? You'll need to learn to bless yourself correctly, of course. 😃

I never understood what winds protestants up about the blessing thing. If its intended as a sincere mark of respect and request for his support and guidance. Unfortunately too often its just superstition.
Yell need tae miss oot kissing the ring though ;)

I Digress.
Don't think that wee signalmans house at the gates (if that is where you refer to AWP) can ever be looked at the same after events of a few years ago.
If it matters we lived round the corner and we could often hear the music but were oblivious of where it came from with the Hideaway confirming they had no live bands!
Nearly 3 hours and no Parrot. OMG!
I was at a funeral and wake.
Phone was off.

AWP
you paint a very similar story to my own, as we also 'practised' as 'musicians' in same wee hoose, also enjoying a pint & chippy and bus back into toon of a Sun evening.
The old guy Brown? we rented from had boxes of scientific papers & journals lying all around the place, I think his missus was also a teacher at QAHS ?
And RM, you must have got some ear bashing cause there were about 4 different bands practiced there I think ?
I must know you AWP, as I also think you come from Baldridgeburn too ?
