Rob watches from the wealthy, whilst admittedly armed, but physically harm noone, get 18 years, whilst a rapist gets 3 years ?

I'm happy with an 18 year sentence. Armed robbery with a gun, machete and hammers. Involved at some level in car theft and arson. He'll be out in 12 or so.
3 years for rape is far too little, but I don't know what case you are referring to.

I assumed he was meaning that the 18 years was a bit excessive... And the 3 years was a bit lenient.

I agree with your interpretation. I would agree 3 years for rape is far too little, but I think 18 years for the armed robbery is about right. Offences involving firearms are often severely punished, and rightly so.

This shows in Scotland that rape tends to be punished by longer terms than 3 years. 2500 days is the average, or nearly 7 years. Still not enough IMO.

The guy who got 18 years pleaded not guilty, whilst the guy who pleaded guilty got 11 so he has undoubtedly been punished for maintaining his innocence.None of the 520k worth of watches have been recovered either.
