 Red Dead Redemption II
Topic Originator: ipswichpar

It's been years since I've been into gaming.

But Red Dead Redemption II looks out of this world on the adverts.

Is it as good as it looks?

Yes...a mate of mine has been working on this title so I've had a fair bit of early access and pre release access...it's astounding and the sheer amount of content means serious bang for the buck.

I'm not a huge fan of sandbox games like GTA etc but this game is an unrivalled technical achievement...everything from the visuals to the voice acting is seriously on point.

It's GTA in the wild west. If you enjoy the GTA games you'll love this this. If you don't then less so but there are so many activities to do away from the main storyline that there are dozens, if not hundreds, of hours of entertainment to be had. As has been said the landscape visuals are stunning.
I love it.

And although my eyes were open
They just might as well be closed

I’m not that far into it but the game mechanics are a masterpiece. Not a huge gta fan but thoroughly enjoying RDR2.

Starting a worrying trend too of games breaking the unwritten rule of £40 which i can associate with a gane price all the way back to SNES & Megadrive days.

Thats the latest three 'biggies' in RDR2, Fifa 19 and Spiderman all came in £45-50 at release.

Once you get past all the new stuff you’ve to learn like cleaning your horse and changing clothes to suit the weather it’s absolutely fantastic. It’s not GTA in the Wild West though. It’s much realistic and sophisticated than that. Maybe the previous game would be a better comparison. It’s probably the most immersive game I’ve ever played.

Aye, good point.

The first game from the Xbox 360 is 'backwards compatible' now meaning it will work on the Xbox One.

Fire through that first and by the time you are done RDR2 may be slightly cheaper too. Win win all round

Might give this a try and liked the first one!

Its have to go someway to beating fallout 3 and Fallout NV. I didn't like the skills structure of Fallout 4.

Back to being drenched in my own negativity….

Is the price you pay the price or is it full of in game purchases to be able to progress? Not bought a game for many years but tempted by the hype

Will be waiting for the inevitable PC release for this I think. Will get a cheeky key for it for about £35 at most more than likely

Rockstar games tend to keep their price in the same way that Nintendo's own games do. The only game I will pay full price for is the last of us 2(maybe the resident evil 2 remake if it's sensibly priced).

I only just managed to platinum my first ever game last week. Rory McIlroy on the PS4

It's been out for years as well but ironically i got £30+ punting it on ebay.....totally bemused but ut turns out EA lost the PGA license so it cannot be sold digitally anymore thus pushing the price waaaay up on 2nd hand physical copies. Madness!

Haven’t had a look at the trophies yet to platinum it. Skyrim for the ps3 and fallout4 Are the only 2 I have managed to do. Both relatively easy to platinum.

I must be the only person who doesn’t care about trophies. It’s definitely a big thing for a lot of folk.

It is very big, if I put as much effort into my work as I do trying to get those daft trophies...I'd be a rich man.

In all seriousness I like them because they make you explore and play all aspects of the game that you typically wouldn't have thought or bothered to play, and I've turned into a bit of a perfectionist with it all. Sad I know.

I just don’t have the time or attention span for it. I can get bored of games quite quickly. Even if they’re great.

Much the same berry. After I’ve played the game for a while the trophies push me on to keep playing. If it’s a game I like that is.

Played the online for a week or so when it first launched. Found it a bit boring. Did it improve any?

Its introduced a few more modes, Spoils of War which is very much like capture the flag, Gun Rush which is a Battle Royale. It still needs a lot of improvement but it's getting there. Such is the nature and intent of the game I don't think it suits online much so wont be everybody's cup of tea.

Played online in the first couple of weeks. Remember doing a long drawn out mission with two mates and we got about 20 cents each.

I stopped paying for ps+ in January. I’m not into online gaming and the free games are either dreadful or I’ve had/got them. They put the price up too and we actually get less for it. Aye right.
