Speaking of which, here's my favourite climate quote from the past week..

"I have a strong opinion" Mr. Trump told reporters "I want great climate and we're going to have that and we're going to have forests that are very safe..."

Sigh...

He's also said this. The Finnish President has said the conversation never happened.

Trump: "You gotta take care of the floors. You know the floors of the forest, very important... I was with the President of Finland... he called it a forest nation and they spent a lot of time on raking and cleaning and doing things and they don't have any problem."

😂 It's also not 40-50c in Finland, or in the middle of the biggest drought it has ever had.

Sounds a bit disturbing to me, Richie:

https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2018/oct/08/global-warming-must-not-exceed-15c-warns-landmark-un-report

It's said the difference between 1.5 degree rise and 2 degree rise could mean 50 per cent less water stress, millions fewer people at risk of climate-related poverty, less food scarcity etc. with only 12 years to prevent us getting to the two degree rise.

Seems like we're getting close to the point where we may look back and say - should've done something about that. Yeh I'd call it a crisis if it's only 12 years before we get to the point where it's beyond fixing.

But it won't surprise me if it's allowed to happen. I imagine the attitude of eg the American govt is, why should we curb emissions etc. unless everybody else - such as China - does the same?

What is causing the rise in global temperature?Seems to me there are only two choices.Man made or fluctuations from the sun.The cynic in me says money is to be made from the former.

Aye because nobody ever got rich from our desire to burn oil and gas.

Possibly, but I don't go along with it, yet anyway. Seems to me the 'man made' global warming argument has been getting stronger. And with Trump taking the opposite position, it gets stronger still. Doesn't he say he won't sign up to reductions in emissions because he reckons it would harm the number of American jobs? In other words, seems there's more money to be made out of the 'not man-made' position.

Either way I'm glad to read about billions of trees being planted in India and other places, said to offset carbon emissions.

The sun's energy output in 1 second is 1 million times greater than all the earth's energy consumption(2013).Could be a slight factor.

OR TOWK suing energy companies for their hand in "climate change"
