Looks like Elon Musk's dream of a Chateau on the red planet could take another step forward.

Rasta, over to you;) Musk said he would make the trip even though he knows it would mean almost certain death.

I can't help imagining him sitting in front of a mirror perfecting Mike Myers DR evil pose.

I'm a multi billionaire. I can make a massive change to millions of lives or I can go to Mars to see....well nothing I cant see on YouTube actually.

I wonder which would give me the biggest buzz and most fulfilment. Hmmm oh arrr it's a difficult one.

Landing on Mars vs watching some crappy below HD video in YouTube? Is that even a question? If I was in his position I'd be on the first manned mission to Mars, easy peasy.

Haven't watched the YouTube clip... But didn't they solve the van Allen belt problem years ago simply with thicker shielding?

I thought they told the world they lost the technology to get through it, turns out it only needed a thicker shield?
We should be considering putting a space station on the moon now. That would be an obvious solution to searching further afield imo.

Hey I could be talking through a hole in ma heid.... But I've picked that snippet up from somewhere. Whether it's true or not I don't know.
How do I watch this event tonight? Online I presume?

Tbf Parnot, if you think a single billionaire would make any chip into world hunger you're joking yourself. Point that finger at negligent capitalist governments and the poverty that creates.

Frankly, humans diversifying to other planets is the ONLY way that we will survive as a species if we continue destroying the earth like the irresponsible children of my parents and grandparents generations.

£2000 to supply a village with a well and safe water.
If the many billionaires in the world focussed on fixing this planet rather than trying to get to new planets we wouldn't have the problem you allude to.
Look how Israel transformed desert in a decade. What could we achieve if we put resources into duplicating that and how much would it cost compared to creating liveable conditions on other planets? (Don't go off about land grab, its not relevant in this point)
£2 can provide an operation to remove cataracts and restore sight.
No he couldn't do it all himself but he isn't the only one.
We have all we need to prosper on this planet. It is greed and selfishness that leads to the destruction. Going to other planets won't stop that. Unless we change our priorities we will just destroy those planets too.

Yes I agree with most of that. But as Stephen Hawking said there is no point in saving the planet of its subsequently destroyed by a dinosaur style event. We need to branch out from our planet so that we have the means to survive such an event.

Ok. Lets turn a blind eye to the actual suffering we can all see, and spend trillions just in case something else happens.
How many of us do you think they will get in the big Mars express bus at a time.
How many decades of actual suffering will we write off as a justifiable cost while we develop the interstellar megabus and all the structures and facilities required to sustain life on Mars?

I think if it happens it will be a gradual process. And you only need 2 people to start a new planet. It's not about who you save, it's about saving humanity. Both ways are valid but you have a better chance of saving humanity if its on more than one planet

They apparently have assets that would humble many billionaires, why don’t they use that to build wells etc?

Because it's the boy downstairs they worship.
They use more upside crosses than your average death metal band and the Pope's audience chamber is in the shape of a snakes head to be fair they put it right out there....and then there's the abuse of children...

I have my own ideas as to what that lot are all about, Rasta, and I find the whole thing disgusting.

I googled the wealth of the Vatican and this poped up.

Religious organizations

Organization Worth Country

Catholic Church $140 billion + Vatican

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints $150 billion + United States

Church of England $7.8 billion United Kingdom

Opus Dei (part of the Catholic Church) $2.8 billion Italy

———-
So I’ll ask you parrot.

Why don’t the faithful catholics, an organisation that are quick to point out that people are starving and need fresh water to simply survive, an organisation with followers that sneer at the Ellon Musks of this world not spend some of their many billions to dig wells? They have paintings that are worth millions, why not sell one and dig wells?
What do they do with all these billions they have?

Why are you asking me about Rome? I'm a Christian.
I can assure you we are singing from the same song sheet on this one Stevie.
Mormonism is a bank. It has nothing to do with Christianity.

The church of England is little better than Rome.

BTW did you mean to write poped up rather than popped up.
That was a cracker.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redemptive_suffering

The idea being to be like Christ we have to in some way suffer and this is pleasing to God.(Mother Theresa loved this doctrine)

The system(and it is a very corrupt system) relies on a couple of things.

1.The church is the sole interpreter of Scripture.

2.Faith+ Works is required for redemption.

Those 2(there are many others) keep people bound to the system.

It's run by men primarily for control, power and wealth.

The bible doesn't say only Adam and Eve were created. It focuses on them for a specific purpose.
There are other opinions and I may well be wrong.......

If you actually read Genesis it says in ch1v26.. let us ( note US, plural. He was talking to Jesus - the creator) make mankind in our image so that THEY (plural) may rule over.....

He finished creation then rested. Ch2 V2

Adam and Eve were formed in Ch2 v 7 and 21.
They were placed in the garden of Eden. They had a purpose...the genealogy of Christ.

Controversial? Read it and figure. I'm not sure but it does answer the incest question.

Right in the middle of the studio eh!

Mars is smaller than Earth. If you look at the horizon on earth it is curved. You would expect a smaller planet to look more curved but the pic looks level.

Just thought I'd start a wee conspiracy theory. 😉

No it doesn't.

Saturn and Jupiter have clouds of amonia.
I believe the clouds on Mars are composed of water droplets though.

There are also clouds of dust on Mars, whipped up by the winds (which aren't as strong as ours but since the Martian dust is quite fine it's enough to form the clouds).

Photos are just one piece of evidence, but yes that helps. Data from probes that have either orbited or landed on the planets too. Of course, it's much more likely that there's a massive conspiracy involving millions of scientists and astronomers from pretty much every country on the Earth (both professional and amateur) on a global scale to ensure that planetary weather and atmospheric conditions are kept secret for... reasons?

Millions of scientists, millions of actors, it's still the same - the chances of so many people keeping a secret is virtually nil. But all the same, yes I've met plenty of astronomers, planetary scientists, a NASA engineer and an astronaut, as well as countless amateurs.

Astronomers and planetary scientists only know what they are led to believe by the real powers that be.

None of them have anaything other than speculation derived from facts that might not actually be factual.
Has your astronaut friend been to the moon, did he show you any souvenirs?

I've never met you actually. Maybe you dont really exist either!

Why would an amateur astronomer, looking with his own telescope be beholden to "The powers that be"? Why would anyone go to the effort of doing so anyway?

Beyond the 'Moon Landing Conspiracy', space travel and exploration conspiracies are the weirdest clutching at straws conspiracies going. Hubble and James Watt will be laughing whilst having the clearest images of the Universe of any human creation.

Have no idea what you're talking about re: Peake and Bush tbf - hard to argue about something when you don't know what the argument is. As to the initial video, it's clearly a discussion about modern day space travel, and we haven't been anywhere bar low Earth orbit since the early 70s. Seems a bit odd that folk change their time there though. One minute it's "all we've ever done is low Earth orbit", the next it's "lol the ISS is totally fake lolz". Maybe trying to form some sort of coherent argument would be a start?

I haven't a clue what it is there for but I know that it's not a green screen or a screen that would be used as a filming backdrop. Watch the second clip above.

Have you watched the second video? Why would they use a screen that covers half the area behind him? Why would they release the video showing him standing in front of it? A quick Google shows it was used for an experiment using the green ball.

Fwiw I couldn't care less if there's astronauts in the space station or not. If people want us to believe their theories though they should at least give us something that's a bit believable. That video can be debunked quickly as the guy is obviously using two different clips and is passing them off as one.

I'll put this down to you looking for a bit wind up fun. You really aren't daft enough to believe the content of that first clip I posted.

I do like having a poke.
However there are numerous examples worth looking at.
For instance I asked once about cameras facing forward at launch and the " experts" on here told me...ooh...every ounce of weight is critical...and yet we've had them cutting about with guitars and gorilla suits, what's that all about?
And the " we just don't have the technology to go to the moon any more" argument, there are fridges with more computing power than the first alleged trip to the moon, I'll happily donate a fridge and a phone if they're stuck.
I personally don't care much either, I just like having a gander at levels of indoctrination.

Fair enough questions. If it is faked though I'd like to know how they fake the zero gravity. I know they have the planes nicknamed vomit comets but they can only experience zero gravity for a short time. There's single shot footage of astronauts that go on for far longer than a plane could generate it for.

I dont doubt they landed on the moon or Mars. Its just interesting how theories evolve and "Evidence" abounds in equal measure for polar opposite sides.
The twin towers was the most mental.
Nobody can admit they might be wrong despite the evidence. There is always another twist.

Problem is it appears to be more important to win the argument than to get to the actual truth.

So the Bush/Peake video was completely nonsense then? Colour me surprised. How dare that Tim Peake do educational videos for free to help kids understand science and engineering. He's a lizard!

As to why the screen is there, I've not watched the video that the second YouTube video refers to but I'd imagine it's to make measurements on a computer (or even manually) which would then be replicated on Earth with the same grid and green ball to show a parabolic curve on Earth due to gravity on Earth and apparent weightlessness on the Space Station. The two motions can then be compared. Fairly straightforward and didn't require a Google search (incidently, why would they use a blue screen when his t-shirt is blue, and why would they need white likes that would just show up anyway? As a popular poster might say, "Try thinking").

"For instance I asked once about cameras facing forward at launch and the " experts" on here told me...ooh...every ounce of weight is critical...and yet we've had them cutting about with guitars and gorilla suits, what's that all about?"

What do you mean by asking about cameras facing forward at launch? You may well have asked on here before but I've not seen it and I'll be happy to answer if you have a question. As to why they have frivolous stuff with them, they have a personal allowance for freight and it was realised quite quickly that the astronauts need down time. I'm fact, some astronauts went on strike once because they were being asked to work for too long without a decent break (Think it may have been on Skylab). They don't tend to take bulky stuff with them on the Soyuz but the re-supply craft tends to bring things up like food from their homeland, musical instruments, paper copies of books etc. It does cost more of course but I guess the positive PR (from most folk) is seen as worth it.

"And the " we just don't have the technology to go to the moon any more" argument, there are fridges with more computing power than the first alleged trip to the moon, I'll happily donate a fridge and a phone if they're stuck."

I don't think I've ever heard any sensible person say that we don't have the technology to go to the Moon. Where have you heard that? We don't have the political will to go to the Moon, we don't have a Space Race that sharpens the mind, we don't have public opinion in support of returning to the Moon. It hasn't stopped India and China saying that they plan on going there though. You can donate yoir fridge and phone to the Indian or Chinese space agencies but I guess most of our stuff is made there anyway so they're probably all right.

I'd love to know how they faked this. Definitely no wires in this video. Her chain floats as well. She travels through the station passing others on the way. Her hair behaves like it would under water but it's obviously not under water.

I've came to the conclusion that it's one of two things. They are either on the space station (which definitely exists as it's actually visible) or scientists have worked out how to prolong weightlessness on earth but they're keeping it secret. I'm all ears for any other explanations.

I think it's walking on the moon that can be replicated by doing that. There is gravity there though. I had a vision of them dropping that astronaut down a tube and telling her it'll look like she's floating when they slow down the playback.

Vomit comets allow for 25 seconds of weightlessnes that's why I said prolonged. These videos haven't been made in a plane. It would need to be a fair length.

Yes, we don't have it any more as in we don't have rockets powerful enough! We can build them, it's not much more than high school chemistry to get the fuel mix right and a bit of Physics to get your thrust right to reach the escape velocity of around 12 km per second (over 40,000 km per hour) but the knowledge and wherewithal exists to do it. The issue is whether there is political and public support.

It's like saying that I could fly from London to New York in around 3 hours but we don't have the technology anymore - Concorde isn't flying any longer so I can't take that particular flight but the knowledge and wherewithal to build another Concorde is there. Seriously, think about what he's saying and the context he's saying it, don't just see the words and assume it's "proof". It's like you're hearing but not listening. He even says that the next step is to go back to the Moon!

Really.

The Hebrew word that we pronounce as "NASA" (or, more correctly, "na-sar") is actually the slightly different "נָשָׂא", which is a primitive verb root meaning "to lift, bear up, carry, or take":

Nasa is the Hebrew word for deceive, just saying...

Really.

The Hebrew word that we pronounce as "NASA" (or, more correctly, "na-sar") is actually the slightly different "נָשָׂא", which is a primitive verb root meaning "to lift, bear up, carry, or take":

Can also be translated as " hidden in plain sight"
Now...about that serpents tongue on the logo....
