Maybe because Vestas are the biggest wind turbine manufacturer in the world ?

I think you are right, a few different towers types/manufacturers are used but all the working parts are made by the main wind turbine companies (Siemens/Gamesa, Vestas, Enercon etc) A lot of time, effort, testing and money has been spent and they seem to keep everything in house including traing courses.
I was on a job in Texas in the summer that took 4 months for the parts to be made and shipped from Spain.

Yes, whatever did happen to those plans for old motorolla plant area up near amazon? Freddie shepherd got that for a song, and was supposed to be building a renewables hub of excellence, with some housing, as per usual, fek all bar housing to be seen, lined his pockets, and provided no support infrastructure, ie schools etc, just as fife council have allowed all the developers to do
