That long straight bit from Torryburn roundabout heading west has always had a reputation as an accident black spot.

Going back some years ago there was a multiple fatalities smash involving a group of workmen heading home along that stretch.

Aye I mind it... it was made worse by all the gear/tools in the back of the van.
I believe there was also people in the back too... Unseated... As a lot of folk used to do back then. Hopefully not so much these days.
Can't remember how many lost their lives that day but it made the national news... As did the inquest a while later.
Edit... Just found an article about it.
It was late 1992 and 5 people sadly lost their lives that day

I remember it well. We were on our way to school that morning and got diverted because of the accident. I was 14 at the time and remember hearing about the tools coming forward into the cab of the van as well. It's always stuck with me so I've always made sure there is nothing left on the parcel shelf of my car, I always make sure that anything in the boot is pushed up against the back of the seats as well. This along with similar accidents is the reason that vans must have a partition between the cabin and the driver/passengers now.

Or the one where the car went under the army lorry, as they were unsighted by the low sun.

Ideal road to be putting speed cameras on.
Instead, we seem to put them where the authorities can gain most money
