The New Year is just a few days old, and by now your average FTSE gaffer has earned as much as the average UK worker does in a year....

Does the "Average UK worker" have the skills/talent to run a large company?

That being said they are still overpaid.Give them a million each. That's plenty.

Most likely not but without the workers there wouldn't be a company to run.

Aye, there's clearly a differential in skills but not to the extent the reward suggests, in my opinion.

The same would apply without a board of directors LPF.Greed is everywhere, from the shop floor to the boardroom. As a shareholder or an activist you can try and change that or just sell.

I get where you're coming from Richie but I've worked in a lot of low paid jobs and I've never really seen that many greedy people to be honest. I'm not saying they don't exist but by and large it's just folk trying to earn enough to have a comfortable life for them and their families.

If I was a cynic I'd say that if the working class in general became comfortable the rich couldn't use economic dominance to manipulate them into earning the rich more money. Keep them uncomfortable and always needing to earn more cash to survive and you've got a malleable work force to earn you more money.

The people that contribute to the success of the company should receive a much more equitable share of the profits of the company IMO.

I have as well LPF and my experience was greed, stealing, cheating was rampant.

I'm not sure you can take it on a general basis.Pay should be based on an individuals talent, skills training etc.Not everyone has them in equal measure.

I agree if folks contribute to the success of any company they should see some reward.I would argue though if that's the standard, failure should reflect the deduction of any share.
