Who still celebrates this and why?

We in my hoose seem to perpetuate this myth by purchase of a meal deal from a fine supermarket establishment, probs only time in each year, thankfully maw in law foots the bill , wouldnt spend there otherwise. A free tea

we show our love to each other on a daily basis, not just once a year, so we don't celebrate, sometimes just buy a bottle of wine and spend one more evening together

i haven't understood this day since childhood

It is more than just another day.... It brings increased realisation that the sad existence of a loveless relationship falls well short of what society expects. Still, I might get a chocolate or two.

Somewhat commercialised these days along with every other notable date on the calendar... But the wife wouldn't speak to me if I didn't get her a card and a bunch of flowers. It's no biggie, so personally I play the game... Anything for a quiet lifeπŸ˜‰

That's great Lochgelly - a memory to always remind you and your wife of your youth: happy days no doubt.

I think if your wife, husband or partner likes a card and flowers, though it may not mean much to you, it does to them so best make the effort. What's a few bob. You'll get your reward: domestic - well if not bliss, at least peace.

I'm a believer in giving nice surprises regardless of the day of the year. Bought my wife a bunch of fuschias and two roses yesterday because they look so pretty and smell lovely (just like her hee! hee!). I think I'll use that one on my Valentine's card for her.
Who knows, might get lucky - might no' have tae wash up. πŸ˜‰

Last time I bought the wife flowers, the first words out of her mouth were "ok, what have you done"?...
