 Britbox

Today BBC and ITV have announced they plan to launch a new streaming service called Britbox, expected cost to be about £5 per month. On top of my £12 tv licence, I spend around £70pm on Sky, £8 Netflix (as well as £10pm Spotify). As a society we must spend billions just to watch tv, which is simply insane!

Can see why this might be of interest to expats, but who in the UK is going to pay to watch reruns of casualty.

SKY would be dead within a month if it wasn't for football. Everyone knows it but still pays their subscription fees.
Lots of mouths but no action.

If you only turn up to moan then do it elsewhere

Iplayer and the ITV app plus all the other channels apps already do this so how exactly will this make money unless BBC decide to stop iplayer and be like any other private company with no licence fee.

A lot of the content on these platforms are time limited. This new platform will not be subject to the same conditions.

The way I read it, Britbox will be streaming films etc, just like Netflix. Only cheaper.
