Whale watch from Boston is outstanding. Enjoyed a trip to Salem also. Cheers bar. Boston Red Sox is not expensive and an experience. A wander around the city of Boston doesn’t take long. Duck tours is good fun. Also there are now regular shows at Quincy market for free.

Used to live in the Boston area.

pm68 has covered a lot.

Also depending on interests: Science Museum, Old Ironsides in Charlestown Harbour, Tea Party, harbour area from Faneuil Hall/Quincey market, Kennedy Library & Museum, Prudential Tower Skywalk viewing platform for an aerial view of Boston/ Cambridge, Beacon Hill/State Capitol,
Boston Common/Public Garden, A ride on the MBTA subway!
North End for Italian restaurants.

Sister city to Boston is Cambridge across the Charles River. Harvard Square/ Yard/ university, MIT.

Have a Philadelphia Cheesesteak. Phenomenal.

Rocky Steps, Liberty Bell, not sure if the rocky status is there still or if it's been moved.

Possibly heading to Boston in July, how many days would you need to “do” Boston?
Where else is worth seeing say within 100 miles?
I will be starting from NY probably 5 days in NY.

I've been a few times but not for years.

It might not be what you're after but it has a fantastic local music scene. The Middle East in Cambridge was my favourite venue (good food too) but there's plenty more and easy to have a choice of gigs every night.

Wetherby

Depends on what your interests and needs are. Children?

Are you driving from NY? If so you can take in the Cape Cod area en route to Boston ( 60miles or so south of Boston). Plimoth Plantation where the Pilgrim fathers landed is then passed on the way north to Boston on the coast.

North of Boston, 1-2 hours, you have the New Hampshire/ Vermont mountains and lakes. Various water and theme parks.
On the coast of Southern Maine, Kennebunkport. Kittery for outlet stores.

Mind, if you order a “pint” in a bar you’ll get 16 fl.ozs. - I think it’s a schooner you need for a real 20 fl.ozs.jar.

Some nice real ales in the US these days - Beantown is the home of Samuel Adams, worth a tour visit in Boston if you have time.

Another vote for Kennebunkport and Ogunquit albeit it was many years ago I was there.
Will never forget how cold the sea was though.

If you google Theme Parks in NH you will get at least six coming up.
Trip Advisor will give you even more.

Six Flags is brilliant. Kingda Ka is there which I think was (or still is) the tallest and fastest in the world.

Sure it has one of the fastest wooden ones as well.

Been a while since I was there like.

Boston kicked it off with a tea party, but Philly is where Independence was debated, agreed, signed off and declared
A guided tour of the historic Independence Hall relives those momentous times.

If we’re into history the first shots of the American Revolution were fired at the Battle of Lexington and Concord. The Minute Man National Historical Park is in Concord just outside Boston. Lots of historical sites in the area.
