 Bradley Welsh (D)

One of Hibs top boys in the 80's was always part of the "welcoming committee" when we went there. But apparently a reformed character who done a lot for local charities and even appeared in Trainspotting 2. He was shot dead in Edinburgh on Wednesday

Sad News. He done a lot of good work for underprivileged kids and the homeless around Edinburgh whether it was fundraising, organising food banks and toy collections or giving people the use of his Boxing Gym facilities which is just up the road from where I stay. I am not aware of his past in the Hibs casuals so cant comment on that but if newspapers are saying he is 42,how the hell could he have been in the CCS in the 80s?

RIP

Awight Pat!

I thought he would have been a bit older than 42. late 40's maybe. But by the time he was 14 he has 7 arrests for football hooliganism.

The attached clip was made in 2008 and he was stated as being 38 then.

As people have said, guy had something of a shady past but by all accounts was a reformed character. Not a nice thing to hear of on our streets regardless.

Crime wave in city centre, a cash machine has been ripped out of premises in Castle Street. Stolen car used.

From what I have heard he had a very nice house in a very expensive area of the city. Having a gym must be a very lucrative business. Shootings in the west are pretty commonplace but usually there tends to be a reason for it

Red-star

He also had a door security company and supplied many of the door staff in the city.

That is where the problem lies I understand!

Lucrative business, supplying, I suppose

Maybe Rebus will have to come out of retirement to solve this one. It seems to have all the hallmarks of an Ian Rankin novel.

“Stolen car used”

And it’s a big “doh” for me - they weren’t gonna use one of their own!

You are not kidding there. My insurance has went up on mine for first time in as long as i can remember. It's our generations equivalent of a cosworth or xr3i

S3 is now the most commonly stolen car in the UK by a country mile.

The Bridge of Doom now has a Bradley Welsh mural. It was always said the nobody ever took the bridge, I'm sure the CSS ran the CCS there back in the day (not to glorify football hooliganism)

Brad appears to be a bit of a hero amongst Hibs fan with a tribute on 48 minutes tomorrow and murals appearing in various places.

He had been warned by police his life was in danger because of some of the people he was associated with, part of an ongoing Edinburgh / Glasgow feud.

Knew him for years, and yeah, we would definitely be older than 42 - he won the Scottish title and the ABA's in 1993
- he was the only Scottish boxer to win that year - I lost in the semi :(

I'm not believing the recent stories about 'losing' 130k worth of drugs

1. Don't ever remember him being involved in hard drugs

2. Even if he was, I really doubt he would 'lose' them

3. Finally, IF he was involved, and IF he did lose them, there is no way he would be walking about unaccompanied and unprotected.
