My girlfriend is getting me a tattoo for my birthday. Any recommendations for an affordable but decent tattoo artist. None of the tattoos I'm getting are too complex so a decent price is the main thing.

Don't have any masel but plenty of neeburs/workmates have.
Here's one of my work mates advice to you ....spend as much as you can and get a great tattoo. Cos there's plenty of average tattoo artists that will do you an average quality tattoo... That you have to look at for the rest of your natural.... And think "why didn't I spend more and get someone good to do that"?

Agree with the above. Getting a tattoo based on price is a big mistake. Go for quality and know it’s a one off payment.

I have yet to see a tattoo that makes anyone look any better than they would be without it.

All about opinions isnt it. I haven't seen many that make me want to get one but I have seen some really good ones. I think often they are about sentimental value more than aesthetics.

"That’s just your opinion jbob."
Kind of the point of forums is it not?
Much like my feathered friend they're not really for me but that's not to say I haven't seen some absolute crackers on people. Of course on the flip side seen plenty of absolute horror shows as well.
I assume places with a long waiting list (sure I remember a pal being told it was nearly 6 months at a place up the town) would be more reputable than one you could just walk in and get one done at ?

I've heard good reports about a guy called Stronge who used to..( Maybe still does) have a place in Bruce Street.
But that was a long time ago and I've no idea if he's still there.
As said previously.. I don't have any tats... That's not to say I haven't been tempted in the past.

It’s interesting that it’s not long ago that when an actor had to to play the full blown psychopath they would slap on a fake tattoo as a major stereotype for the character (likes of De Niro in Cape Fear etc). Now the folk who do have that type of massive tattoo is more likely to be a barista in Morningside
