 M90/Queensferry crossing speed limits

Someone at Traffic Scotland must be having a laugh. Travelling out of Edinburgh tonight the signs went national limit (70), 50, national limit, 50, 40, 40, national limit. This was all within a couple of miles. Road was pretty dead with little traffic but everyone acknowledged the signs (mainly due to the speed camera!) so the signs created an artificial slow down.

Speaking of the cameras, how are they getting away with the one hidden behind a bush when travelling south?

Pretty sure the modern ones now get set by the limit on the gantry.I certainly wouldn't chance it.

Based on mways around London the overhead gantry limits are what speed cameras activate on.

They're activated based on the speed on them. I don't think they function if the gantry isn't lit but I wouldn't recommend testing it!

I'm not even sure if they're even live yet. Still see people ignoring them and the one on the Fife side can't be legal.

My real issue isn't the cameras but the needless dropping of speed limits. If they want to fiddle with things then they should make the red lights on the slip roads last longer to discourage people using them as a short cut. Edinburgh Council would make a fortune from all the BMW and Audi drivers who think they're driving buses on the Burnshot slip if they fitted a camera.
