Asked for bit of info re Moscow for trip to watch Scotland....The city blew us away. As modern and with everything a major western city has... No litter anywhere. The trains, metro all brilliant, easy to navigate, cheap. The people while a bit dour at work and going about their business are great once out and about. Pubs, bars and restaurants were all reasonable. And even the 4am fancy karaoke club was only £2.50 a pint. Tried to do as much sight seeing as possible, Red Square area is mind blowing. Felt safe at all times, and this was wandering back to hotel late, nipping into 24hr supermarket for scoobie snacks....Going to match, huge fan zone with bands and all sorts going on..Russian fans all wanting photos with every Scots fan. That is two cities visited than have been out the box regarding what we thought they would be...Tirana the other, if you get the chance go to either.

Agree with all of that, if it wasn't for the visa cost I would definitely go back in future with the Mrs

Never been to Moscow but been to St Petersburg. One of the best cities I've been to. Sounds like I need to give Moscow a try also.

Echo the opening post. An Amazing city (or couple of cities as it seemed). We were a bit perplexed about how few people were on the streets etc as day to day activity worked around the tourists but go to the underground where 9million locals commute daily and its a whole other world. Stations are incredible works of art and dedign.
