According to some reviews the adaptation is PC, anti religion, anti British Empire, climate change preachy, and totally “woke”
Right up my street...

At least it's not set in modern New Jersey as a vehicle for a Hollywood celebrity, or in southern California 1950s era.

Bit too much jumping around.I prefer a story starts at start and ends at end.Not this jumping on in the middle.

Vinyl has undergone a revival, and the humble cassette making a modest comeback now.
Hang onto that horned gramophone and Caruso collection...

I was struggling to follow episode 2 - kept jumping from "present" time to five years hence and back again - I think !!!
I always thought the tripod machines had a protective shield - didn't seem to be working last night.

Was that the one that caused some degree of panic as some people thought we were really getting invaded?

That would be the Orson Welles radio broadcast in the USA 1938.
The story of what transpired makes an interesting read.
