 Nespresso coffee machines
Topic Originator: sintv

All this sitting at home is making me drink more coffee. Though I like my kenco 3in1s, mebbe it's time to broaden my horizons. Any recommendations re make and replacement pod prices. Not more than £100 pls

sintv I have the Dolce Gusto machine I think they are around £30 now and Aldi sell the pods at roughly half price £2.40 ish for 16 Americano

The down side for me is that sometimes I don't think it is hot enough as I add milk

Buy a stove top coffee maker, then you can use any coffee you want.

Dolce Gusto, look for the copycat pods, found in Aldis.

As said temperature and measure a bit of a problem.

Lots of plastic waste with the pods though...

Think that there is a company that makes reusable pods, fill them with what you fancy.

Keurig.

Buy reusable pods from amazon and just add your ground coffee

DBP nearly added that as another concern and I stopped using it for that reason and went back to the cafetiere for a while but we have a good recycle plant here so back on the pods

Don’t bother with the Dolce Gusto Latte type flavours as they taste of old powdered or UHT milk and are utterly rancid. Would get a separate milk frother and just make Americanos (read today you can just heat milk in a micro or pot and shake vigorously in a sealed container but not tested to see if it works).

Use Dolce Gusto at work and it’s really nice black coffee

Have a nespresso at home and it’s really good for black, latte & cappuccino but as mentioned above isn’t quite hot enough for me with milk so it usually gets 30 seconds in the microwave to be hot enough for my taste

Biggest bang for the buck though is a lavazza machine at my holiday gaff that I got from tesco or Argos about 3 years ago for about £35 and had a free milk frother offer on and theirs is really good for all drinks.

You can get compostible pods for all brands

Second a stove top. I've got a Nespresso but put it away in the cupboard recently as never use it. The amount of plastic waste is ridiculous and you'll get a better coffee out a stove top anyway.

Just bought a Lavazza milk foamer. That and a stove top coffee maker is as close to an actual Italian coffee I have ever had.

Coffee = Lavazza! End of!
I use a traditional hexagonal pot and add hot water to the espresso when I want a longer drink.

I am far from a foodie snob but I only put milk in instant coffee because its bowf anyway.
Coffee should just be coffee.

Let's mix this up a bit - I use Lavazza coffee in reusable Dulce Gusto pods if I can't be bothered waiting for the stove top.

But does the Dulce Gusto make all the braw coffee making bubbly steamy noises?
