I have a 13 week old sprocker Spaniel puppy called Bonnie.
Unfortunately very recently Bonnie became very poorly and went to the vet hospital in a critical condition.
After 2 days in hospital, and ultra sound, a ct scan and several meds it was found that Bonnie has a condition call a Porto systemic shunt. This is where the blood vessel that goes into the liver completely bypasses the liver. The liver cleans out all of the toxins in the blood meaning all of these toxins are spreading around Bonnie's body.
Bonnie requires surgery to save her life. After surgery she will be able to live a full and normal life.
Now this is the hard bit and theboartnim not used to: unfortunately, our insurance are not contributing anything towards the cost of the surgery as she showed symptoms within the first 14 days of taking out our policy. The surgery cost is considerably higher than we can afford. I have set up a go fund me page in the hope that people will read Bonnie's story, share and contribute to a very worthy cause. It would be a great shame to see a puppy die due to financial restrictions.
I have shared the link below, if I could please ask all pars fans to share, and if possible donate I would be so so greatful!

Hope you manage to get everything sorted for the pup. Donations seem to be steadily coming in so hopefully you hit your target soon.

apologies but can i ask a heartless question - i take it you only just got the dog so is the breeder not responsible? i know dogs aren't cheap so presumable you're entitled to at least a refund?

I think DBP has a very valid point, faulty goods, I would be taking it back for a full refund

I'm not denying that, just that there was a much better way of phrasing it to providing a link to advice, in my opinion.

Maybe the OP is an animal lover and kind soul and just wants to help the poor wee dug instead of getting a refund and washing his hands of it.
Just a thought.

Maybe a refund would go a long way in funding the operation?

If the breeder is a registered the dog should have been seen by a vet before being sold. I think there is a decent case in law to made against the breeder. They could be held responsible for the treatment if they have not acted correctly.
As an example we bought a mini schnauzer from a breeder. We took her for her first vet appointment at about 12 weeks (she was late leaving her mother because of Christmas). Our vet noticed that one of her canines ( baby teeth) was not in the correct position and was hitting her gum. It is something the breed is prone to. It was ok but if her adult tooth came in the same position it would be agony for her and surgery (very expensive specialist) would be required.
Our vet told us this was the breeders responsibility and to get in touch and advise them. The breeder agreed that if the adult tooth came in incorrectly they would pay. They had insurance in place for this sort of thing.

why should i sugar coat it?
this was a financial transaction - where someone has sold and another person bought, to own, a "life" (using the OP terminology)
while i have no doubt the OP has become attached to the animal he recently purchased, it was still a commercial transaction and when you buy any product, you are protected by consumer rights.
if you want me to provide links where animal welfare is front and centre, it would be to shelters and rescue organisations, where you could genuinely save a life and spare an animal for being put down

I wouldn't worry DBP, people get very emotive towards their pets, as do I but you were definitely just adding a little bit of advice that could in fact be an important consideration given the situation.
