It's seems incredible but due to falling fertility rates by the end of the century the population of certain countries is going to more than halve. The UK is expected to have around 75m but Italy's is going to plummet down to only 28m. Japan currently at over 120m is going to be only 53m and even China is going to see an extraordinary decrease of over 700m.
Makes you wonder about the geo political consequences of such a seismic shift.
And although my eyes were open
They just might as well be closed

If this prediction comes to pass, these countries will experience a period in which they have a greater proportion of older people, who should be entitled to a pension, but there will be fewer people of working age paying into pension funds.
Some things will have to change for a compromise to be reached.

This is very easy to deal with since it is going to happen 80 years down the line.
The pension contributions people are making should be ring fenced and not go into the big pot. Then the money individual's have contributed is there to actually pay their own pensions.
This is exactly how things used to be until in 1992 the then Tory government decided the National Insurance Fund could be used to "pay off" the National debt.
The reality is that the National Debt remained fairly steady dropping slightly to 29% of GDP by 2002. By 2007 it was 40%, after the financial crash it was 48%.
In 2009 it was 56.8%. Then the Tories got back in power in 2010. The National debt has continued to spiral out of control despite austerity. As the rich got tax breaks, services were cut and the National debt now stands at an astronomical 80.7%.
All the while money is stolen from the pension pot to "pay off" this debt but it's not getting paid off at all.

Labour were much derided by the Tory Party about the amount of borrowing and National debt they incurred to provide basic services for the ordinary folk... ie Me and you lot
The Tories have now amassed the biggest borrowing figure in our history and were doing so long before Covid 19
Why ?.....because the Government can borrow from itself... Also Private investors can lend money to the Government at a specific rate of interest... a guaranteed bond ... no risk ...so the multi millionaires then become oligarchs ...simples
