hi all
cycled up there a couple of weeks back but those storms we had meant the road was closed (a whole chunk of the road was washed away)
thinking of cycling up that way again this weekend, does anyone know if the roads are open again?
cheers

The storms are wreaking havoc, a water leak has done my livingroom ceiling and I am currently jousting with the insurance company!
I'm still not as bad as the houses down Cardenden way, think 20/30 have been devastated.

Roof leak and wear and tear is their excuse these days. If the wind speeds in their locations on that date do not exceed a certain speed then insurance is invalid. Unless you are covered by wear and tear insurance.
It is in the detail that they never tell you about unless you wish to read 20 pages.....
Robbing Bar Stewards.
Yes I was done by it.
Hope you have better cover than me at that time.
Edit: I often now wonder would I have waited with a temporary repair paid for by myself until the wind speeds met their specification, then make the claim.

The rainfall over that time exceeded their "storm" conditions, but still not paying out for external repairs!
House is 100+ years old, and we've been in it for 30years, slates repaired/renewed on a regular basis.
Esure a company that doesn't want to pay out!

As a former insurance worker (on the commercial side) I would never recommend anyone goes with Esure. Very poor reputation even in the insurance world

It's a problem with online comparison sites, you don't actually know who you're insured with!
You never realise how good the company are until you make a claim.
4/5 weeks ago my car was hit by an Esure driver whilst I was going round a mini roundabout, I had right of way, Esure deny liability?
WTF!!!

Problem is even if you try and avoid esure you.might sign up to another insurer that is actually just a front for them. There are actually very few actual insurers.

Always always check who actually underwrite the insurance. Companies do front insurers but they have to declare the underwriters.

Actually thought they had stopped trading under that name considering they can't price differentiate.
My apologies.
Another company that we would never recommend back in the day

Not sure if it's still the case, but did they not used to own a well known price comparison site?

They had a stake in gocompare but it was sold back in 2017.
