Could be a recent update that caused the problem. Happens on my laptop all the time. I spend ages trying to fix problems then give up and go back to it later or the next day and it's miraculously sorted itself.
Last time it was my keyboard that was typing different letters to what I was typing... So I found (eventually) an on screen keyboard that I could use successfully.
Shut the laptop down... Fired it up the next day and everything was tickety boo again.
Makes no sense to me... But I ain't no techy so I'm glad it seems to fix itself.
